Penny bit her lip hard as she did her best to concentrate on the information that was trying to get to her brain. All the while, she could feel herself internally panicking. Bad Penny, if you panic, you won't be able to think. She scribbled down notes as quickly as possible, feeling slightly horrible for ruining her perfectly good handwriting. Penny, breathe, remember to breathe...

Raelyn rushed to class. She kept forgetting what period came next and was often late to most of her classes. As she stepped through the door and got into her seat, she let out a sigh of relief since she was not late. Rae quickly took out her notebook and was looking through her bag for her pencil when she pushed her book off her desk on the floor next to another girl. "Oh clumsy me, um excuse me could you pick up my notebook please?" She asked the girl.

Penny glanced up at the sound of footsteps by the door. There was a girl around her age with long black hair and an exceedingly frazzled look on her face. Penny smiled sympathetically toward the girl. She had had that expression on her face a few too many times to even mention. It was tricky finding classes, particularly when the truth was that you shouldn't have had to be here in the first place. She didn't ask to skip ahead, but when the oppurtunity arose, her parents weren't taking her refusals for answers.
When the book fell, Penny let out a sigh. She had been taking notes for ten minutes straight and her wrists were beginning to hurt. Not only was she glad to get a break from that, but she was always up for a good deed. She smiled as she handed the book to the other girl. "Here you go."

Raelyn smiled back at the girl, "Thanks." She noticed that this girl was in most of her classes and she seemed familiar. "I'm Raelyn Davis by the way," She introduced hoping to make a new friend.
The class was getting louder as they were finishing their notes. But the teacher didn't seem to mind the talking and was busy doing other things.

As Penny had a look at the other girl, she realized she had seen her around before, at least in some of her classes. At her introduction, Penny gladly responded, "I'm Penny Mezzello. Nice to meet you." She tilted her head upon recognizing her last name. "Do you have any relation to Roger Davis? My cousin's dating him," she explained, hoping she was right. After all, Davis was a pretty common name, but it seemed like it was possible.
She was glad that the class was getting louder. The last thing she wanted was to get caught for talking in class and possibly yelled at. Her parents would find out, there was no doubt. It was like they had spies stationed all over the place just waiting for Penny to screw up. The very thought creeped her out.

"Nice to meet you too and yes I'm related to Roger Davis. He's my older brother but we look nothing alike as you can tell," She explained to Penny, "Your cousin is April? Wow I didn't know that, guess you do learn something new everyday." Raelyn smiled, she knew that Roger was really happy with April and was glad that April was such a nice person.
Then she noticed how Penny was deep in thought about something and it didn't look like a good thought. But she didn't want to ask what it was because it might seem rude. "Hey, are you okay?" She asked settling for that question.

Penny nodded understandingly at Raelyn's explanation about being related to Roger. "Yeah, I can tell," she admitted. She grinned when Raelyn mentioned that she knew April. "Isn't she the coolest? Same with your brother, actually. Really nice guy," Penny remarked animatedly, almost laughing at how enthused she was right then. Most people considered her quiet. That couldn't have been farther from the truth.
Whilst in her thoughts, Raelyn asked if she was okay. Her head snapped back around to the girl, who obviously seemed concerned. Apparently, her expression gave her away. It had a bad habit of doing that. "Yeah, sure. Thinking about my parents, is all." She shrugged. If she wanted to know why, she'd tell her.

"Well I haven't talked to her much but from what I've heard from my brother, she's the best," She grinned at Penny, "My brother can be a pain at times but I still love him." Raelyn was enjoying this conversation, she hardly did have any conversations in her class. But it was great knowing that Penny was in most of her classes so she would have someone to talk to.
"Parents, is there something wrong..well if you don't mind me asking. I don't wanna pry into your life or anything." She hoped that she wasn't making a bad impression after that question.

Penny chuckled at Raelyn's explanation about Roger. He sounded like April did when she got into one of her gushing sessions. Penny didn't mind them in the slightest. On the contrary, she thought it was sweet. "Oh yeah...I think it's safe to say that April's got Roger wrapped around her finger. But it's not like he doesn't have her either." For a tomboy, April was the ultimate romantic. Penny was one of the few people who saw that about her, and she was proud of herself for being close enough to her cousin to know that.
Penny knew that she was going to ask that and smiled gently. "No, you're not prying. Anyway, sometimes I think my parents send people here to spy on me, just waiting for me to screw up somehow." She blinked when the possible impact of her words was realized. She had a tendency to speak so casually about things that most people would think were horrible. She bit her lip, awaiting Raelyn's response.

"Yea I think April has got Roger tamed but in a good way. Maybe she can bring out his social side," Raelyn told Penny. Roger was a bit of an introvert and for him to interact with people he really didn't know, it was great.
Raelyn was a bit shocked at what Penny just said...her parents want her to screw up? "Are you serious? Are those people even considered parents...that's just so wrong." Raelyn took a moment to take a breather and said, "Sorry got a little carried away there...but I'm sure April isn't happy about this."

Penny raised an eyebrow. "He's not social? This is news to me. He was pretty talkative when I met him...I mean, less talkative than April, but..." She thought for a moment. "Okay, now it all makes sense." She chuckled weakly at the thought that he was only talkative because of her cousin. If only she could use those skills. Not like anyone really interested her...she had to concentrate on school after all. Still...being a romantic at heart, she always dreamed of finding her prince charming.
Penny bit her lip at Raelyn's reaction. "I get that a lot...and you're allowed to act like that, honestly." She let out a sigh, remembering all the times April begged for her to at least tell her parents off just once. "She's not...and I'm not really either. I hate their expectations and following them....but unfortunately, I have to be sneaky about everything." She knew that she sounded like she was complaining, but she wanted to let all of this out before she went nuts.

"Yea around certain people he is talkative but my mom is trying to get him to get out of his shell. She made him join drama," She laughed. Raelyn thought about her brother and when she first moved to the Davis house. She could still remember the shy little boy that became her big brother.
Raelyn looked down, "I'm sorry. That was a bit too much of a reaction..." She should have known that most people get that same reaction but Raelyn wanted to help her any way she could. "That sucks...Well if you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here. Your parents should let you have some freedom.." Raelyn trailed off at the end.

Penny raised an eyebrow and giggled. "Ah, I thought he wasn't the type to willingly take drama class. Now it all makes sense, really." She shrugged, resting her chin on her hand with a pensive look on her face. Really, he was actually pretty quiet. Maybe that was what attracted April to him; someone who would listen. At that thought, Penny felt slightly bad that perhaps she was always talking too much to really listen to her cousin's problems.
She snapped out of her thoughts at Raelyn's apology. "Oh no. Seriously, you don't need to apologize. I've received worse reactions, honestly." She bit her lip slightly, hoping the awkwardness would blow over. Still, she had to smile at Raelyn's offer. "Thanks...and because you're being nice, you're allowed to smack me over the head if I start complaining too much, deal?" She frowned at the freedom comment. Oh, she knew that all too well, unfortunately.
