Eric sat in math class, absently drawing random shapes in his notebook. He was completely ignoring the teacher; instead he was staring over at Lilia, who seemed to be paying attention to what was going on. A part of his mind told him that this was exactly why she did well in math and he didn't, but the other part just wanted to watch her. That same part kept drifting back to their date remembering how the night had ended. He grinned crookedly, continuing to stare at his girlfriend.

Lilia was really trying to pay attention, but her mind kept wandering back to the events of Friday night. She copied down notes, but her mind was really on another planet. She finally gave up on trying to concentrate, knowing that she could always look over her notes from the previous year, and leaned back in her seat. She couldn't stop thinking about what had happened. Her mind kept telling her that what they had done was wrong, but her heart was telling her exactly the opposite. She glanced in Eric's direction and smiled at him, knowing that he wasn't paying attention to the class, either.

Eric's smile broadened as Lilia turned to look at him and he winked at her. Tearing a piece of paper out of his notepad, he scrawled, Love you! on it, folding it carefully and passing it to her. It was a silly gesture, something he'd never done with previous girls, but it was something he wanted to do with her.

Lilia smiled as she took the note, being careful to keep Miss Dale from seeing her. She opened it up and smiled at the message scrawled inside. She picked up her pencil and wrote a quick note just below Eric's writing. Love you, too. She passed it back as Miss Dale wrote something up on the board.

God, he wished they weren't in math class right now. He wished the could just go somewhere and talk... do something other than pass notes in class. As the teacher moved to help another student, Eric leaned closer to Lilia and asked, "You have any idea what she was talking about? Cause all I could think about was you."

Lilia smiled when Eric leaned over and whispered in her ear. "Funny... because all I could think about was you," she replied. She turned to the notes on the board, glancing over them to see what they had been talking about. "I'll help you with it after school," she replied. She wrote down the notes quickly so that she could go look up her old notes. "Unless, of course, you've already made other plans," she said, smiling at him.

Eric grinned widely. He was glad Lilia seemed okay with everything. After her initial reaction, when they had stopped, he worried she might have regrets. But it looked like she was just as happy about it as he was. "I suppose that would be a good idea," he said with a dramatic, if quiet, sigh. "Can't have me failing. I had other plans - with you," he added, raising an eyebrow suggestively, "But maybe we can put the two together. We did talk about rewards," he finished with a wink.

Lilia smiled back at Eric. "We'll just have to see about that," she said. She glanced up as Miss Dale started walking back towards the board. "We'll talk at lunch," she whispered. The last thing she wanted was to get caught talking by Miss Dale. From what Eric had said, the woman loved giving detentions for even the slightest infraction.

Eric followed Lilia's gaze to the front of the room. Last thing he needed was detention. He definitely wanted to talk to Lilia about this at lunch. In fact, he was pretty sure he wouldn't be able to talk about anything else right now. He shook his head, trying to force his mind to focus on math, but he just couldn't. Taking the piece of paper they had written on, he added: Is this class ever going to be over? I'd much rather be spending time with you than trying to figure out trigonometry."

Lilia glanced down at the note Eric had passed her. She smiled as she read over it and looked up to see what Miss Dale was doing. Then she quickly wrote a reply to him. I know... but it isn't that much longer. And then we have lunch. And the whole afternoon... Lilia smiled at Eric as she passed the note, then glanced to check and make sure Miss Dale was still busy at the blackboard.

Eric nodded, then groaned about the afternoon. But at least Math was almost over. He didn't dare look at the clock though - never did. If he looked at the clock, it would stop moving. Never failed. Instead, he copied down the equation on the board and looked at it, trying his best to figure out what exactly he was supposed to do with all those numbers and letters. Eric let out a frustrated sigh, not loud enough for Miss Dale to hear, but enough to let it be known how upset he was getting. He put his head in his hands, shaking his head. Lilia was going to have a lot of work ahead of her if she was going to get him to understand this stuff.

Lilia continued to write down what Miss Dale was explaining, but she glanced in Eric's direction when he sighed. She reached out and took his hand, squeezing it gently. Then she smiled at him, hoping that she would be able to help him get over his frustrations. She turned to look back at the board, and quickly dropped Eric's hand and went back to copying notes as Miss Dale began to turn around. She knew that the woman would separate them if she caught them doing anything in her class other than working on equations.

Eric tried to smile back a Lilia. In truth, her smile always did wonders to improve his mood, but right now, the feeling of failure was just a little too strong. His eyes lingered on her after she had turned away, grateful that she was trying to help him. He just hoped it worked.
Listening as the teacher gave their homework, Eric lost what little happiness Lilia had brought him with her smile. Running a hand through his hair roughly, he began packing his stuff, getting ready for lunch, studiously avoiding looking at Lilia. He'd told her that he wasn't very good at math, but he wasn't sure of she realized exactly how bad he was. And when she did find out, what would she think of him? Lost in thought, he barely registered what was going on around him.

Lilia sighed as Miss Dale gave out their homework assignment; it was going to be a long afternoon trying to get through it. Especially while trying to keep Eric working on the task at hand. She smiled at Eric once again as everyone began packing away their things. She put her own book away and then turned to face Eric. "Its going to be a long afternoon, huh?" she asked, smiling. She sighed as the bell rang and stood up.

Eric slung his backpack over his shoulder, smiling at Lilia and reaching out for her hand. "Yeah," he agreed, frowning a little, "But it's lunch now, so let's not think about it." If only it were that simple. He knew he'd have to do that math at some point... but maybe he could distract Lilia and she'd forget about it. He grinned crookedly at the thought. Turning back to Lilia, he asked, "Where'd you like to eat?"
