Stevie poked her head into her apartment.
"Jer?" She called wondering if her brother was home. After a lengthy pause she shrugged and nodded Josh in.
"welcome to casa de Van Houten." She said with a laugh. She dropped her books down on the couch, before dropping to her knees to organize them.
"It's not the ritz." She said and after a pause shrugged. "Lets face it, you'd be better off at the ritz." She motioned to the heart shaped chair or black plastic chairs.
"Have a seat."

Josh followed Stevie in with a smile. "Well, considering this is Scarsdale, I wasn't really expecting the Ritz," he joked. Josh sat down on the edge of one of the black plastic chairs, watching Stevie organize her books. "You must be a good student. I've never organized my books like that before. Usually they just end up in a random stack on my desk."

"Yeah, this is Scarsdale, but some of the houses are NICE." She said with a shrug. "Grand tour, this is the living room/my bedroom. Through here is the kitchen, up the stairs is my brothers bedroom and the bathroom."
Stevie gave him a grin when she said she must be a good student. "Yes well, if I didn't move them, I'd have to before I went to sleep as this is my bed." She said motioning to the couch that was clearly to small for her lanky form. "My desk is the kitchen table, and I doubt my brother wants me to dump a bunch of books on it." She shrugged.

"I guess I missed those on the way into town. Then again, Jake's driving is pretty much insane. So I was probably hanging on for dear life and watching the road for him while he tried to look for his Queen CD," Josh said.
"I guess that makes sense," Josh replied. He looked over at the couch. "That has to be uncomfortable. I thought the one I had to sleep on was bad, but that thing's pretty small," he said.

"It is a little to small for me." Stevie admitted. "My brother wants to get me a bed, but I just don't know where it would go." She told him, motioning to the small living room. "He's offered me his room, but there's no need for that. I feel guilty enough living in his apartment." She smiled suddenly and put her last book down.
"But we're fairly close to having the money to move to the other apartment. It would be still somewhat cramped, but to have an actual bed and my own mini bathroom. They just turned it into a very small flat really. No kitchen, but with a tub and toilet and sink."

"Yeah, I really don't think a bed would fit in here. Hopefully you can get something figured out about it," Josh said.
"That's nice. I really hope it works out for you," Josh replied.
((sorry, my muse is dead right now))

Stevie shrugged "For now I'll just keep sleeping on the couch. I tried sleeping with my legs out, and just propped up, but all the blood drained outta my feet. So I usually just push my knees up against the back of the sofa and hope I don't roll in my sleep." She laughed. "I did that once and fell."
She shook her head. "Would you like anything? We have a few drinks and some snacks if your interested."

Josh couldn't help but laugh. "Yeah, falling off a couch can be pretty painful. Falling off the top bunk is worse, though."
"I'm fine. My aunt is cooking my favorite meal for dinner tonight, since Lilia's not going to be home."

"Yeah done that too." She shook her head. "At camp, just rolled right off. My bunkmate thought it was hysterical." She rubbed her knee as if in memory.
"Oh favorite dinners are always a treat." She said with a smile. "For birthdays we do favorite dinners here. I left a chicken defrosting earlier, so I'll probably make that with noddles or something." She shrugged.

Josh smiled. "My best friend's birthday party when I was nine. I spent the night at his house afterwards because my parents were out of town. Fell off the top bunk and cracked my skull on a GI Joe," he said. Just the thought made him laugh. He still couldn't figure out how he managed to land exactly on the GI Joe.
"That's pretty cool. We used to just go out to eat for birthdays. But then again, my mom isn't much of a cook," he replied.

Stevie laughed "Wow, good aim. Maybe the GI Joe moved slightly, so you'd land on him." She giggled. "When I was little I reversed it, and asked my brother if I could play IG Joes with him. Evil GI Joe." She shook her head.
"Ah well I have to cook. If I don't we don't eat. Unless Jeremy decides to bring home dinner, but we don't do that often. "

Josh couldn't help but laugh. He was having a lot of fun with Stevie. "IG, huh? I can see it," he replied.
"My mom generally either bought something that you just heated up at the store, or if she wanted real food paid my grandmother to cook for us. She's never exactly been a domestic-type person. She's an orthodontist, so she says that the idea of cooking something that she's just going to end up cleaning out of our teeth disgusts her," Josh replied. "Since my dad never bothered to learn how to cook anything other than microwave popcorn, we would have starved without my grandmother and Stouffer's."

"Ah yes, the IG joes taunt me so." She laughed with a shake of her head. "I was two or three at the time. My mom was mortified I never played with all the Barbies she kept buying me."
Stevie shook her head. "Before I lived with my brother, I lived with my parents and a cook. My dad is in congress and my mom is a lawyer, so of course, bad for their image to have alternative children. The horror." She rolled her eyes. "I would watch the cook. She taught me how to cook. I had to learn you can only eat so much Kraft mac and cheese!" She said with a laugh.

"Well being three does give you an excuse. Everyone says weird things like that when they're three," Josh reasoned. "I played Barbies with Lils a few times... thankfully my dad never found out. Lilia eventually stopped letting me play, because Ken kept karate chopping the furniture."
Josh rolled his eyes. "Parents sometimes have the stupidest priorities. I think part of the reason I got kicked out is the fact that my dad is running for mayor this year. Apparently, politicians can't have gay sons."

Stevie laughed when he said Ken was karate chopping the furniture. "Man, I wanted to take karate really badly growing up. I was never allowed, I had to do ballet instead, but I got lessons anyway." She grinned at the memory. "Mr. Hun lived four doors down from us and he was a retired Sensi. When he found out how badly I wanted to learn, he taught me quietly without payment other than I would come visit with him sometimes. He was a lonely old man." She shook her head, her smile wavering at the thought. When Josh brought up his father running for mayor her grin returned somewhat.
"Ah, yes, Welcome to the gay politician kid club." Stevie said. "There's cookies and juice in the kitchen, make sure to get a button and jacket on your way out." She teased.
