Lilly raised an eyebrow. "Seriously, math changes the world. Pick your head up for like seventeen seconds and pretend that you're listening? Please?" She looked at him sideways from her seat. She hadn't remembered seeing him before. Maybe she just hadn't been looking.

Atticus rolled his eyes and sighed. "Fine." He mumbled, lifting his head again and staring at the board. It hadn't been his fault he had been up reading the night before last-- well... yes it had been.
Fifteen... sixteen... seventeen! With that, he dropped his head back onto the desk and closed his eyes.

Lilly rolled her eyes and sighed heavily. "I didn't mean for you to take it literally..." She sketched another circle into her notebook, adding the various lines and curves needed for the diagram.

"Lilly, leave the poor kid alone. I certainly don't blame him; I'm the only one in this class aside from you who actually likes math, so I think that if I'm bored, there's something messed up." She sighed, knowing that nothing was going to fix everything. Lillian Cohen was the most stubborn person she had ever met.
She glanced toward Angel. "Just so you know, it'd be smart to get used to Lilly doing stuff like that." She winked.

Angel tried not to laugh as the boy did exactly what Lilly told him. The boy had spunk, he had to say. Not a bad way to be. He bit back a smile as he worked.
"Oh yeah?' he asked with a small smile. "Well...she seems nice,' he added with a shrug.

"Oh she is. Slightly cruel and sarcastic, but that's part of what makes her interesting" April remarked, scribbling down the answer to the equation on the board. She banged her head against the desk for a moment.
"Sorry about that, it's the only way I don't die of boredom in these classes" she explained to Angel, sensing that he'd be concerned otherwise. Now he'd just think she was crazy. "And I've taken worst hits with softballs, so it's fine."

Angel blinked in surprise as April beat her head against the desk. Alright...so she was a little odd. He had no problem with odd, though. He actually found it endearing in a way.
"That bored, huh?" he asked with a small laugh, quieting down before he attracted the teacher's attention. He pretended to write a few things until her back turned again.

"Mmhm" April responded. "I know most of this stuff already, to tell the truth. Did I accidentally walk into a class with a grade younger than me?" she asked, running her hands through her hair out of aggravation.

"Maybe.." Angel shrugged a shoulder. He wasn't exactly a math whiz...he was better with english and art. Give him math and science and he was lost. It wasn't that he was stupid...he was just a different kind of smart.

April nodded in understanding, quite sure she got what Angel was thinking. "But hey, we have our strengths and weaknesses. That's what makes this wacky place called Earth interesting." That was part of the reason why she was basically at war with the majority of the popular kids. Other than thinking they were better than everyone and bullies, they were boring and trying to make the world based on conformity.

"You're right," Angel agreed. Yeah, he definitely liked this girl. It was too soon to tell what she was really like, of course...he was all too aware of that. But maybe, hopefully, with a little time...he certainly wouldn't be opposed to making friends. But it still wasn't quite safe enough to talk freely.

April grinned. She could already tell she was going to like this guy. Which was good for him because as a few people knew, April was the kind of person who you wanted on your side. "Anyways, if you need any help with that, let me know. I'm sure you'd ask Nanette, but she's no longer present."

Lilly turned around from her seat in the front, tapping her pencil on the desk again. "April, I blew through the lead you gave me...doodles?" Lilly used as her excuse, holding up a quick cartooning job she'd done, along with her detailed math notes. "Got any more?"

He nodded, pulling up one of the sleeves of his blue sweater. It was big on him...most things were, a little bit. His father never wasted a day to tell him that he was 'too skinny for his own good'. Angel didn't appreciate that a ton. Some guys were football players, some guys just watched the lineup.
He did not just think that.
"Thanks," Angel said quickly, pushing the thoughts out of his head and scribbling a few more notes down.

April raised an eyebrow at Angel's expression for a moment. Okay then...that was kind of weird...concentrate April, concentrate... She forced her eyes onto the board, but they kept wandering to the clock as if they were magnetized.
