Lilia bit her lip as she hurried towards the parking lot. The fact that Josh had moved in with her family had the potential to seriously effect her relationship with Eric. And probably not in a good way. She sighed as she walked up to Eric's car and leaned against the passenger door. For once she was grateful to beat him there; it gave her time to mentally prepare herself for the conversation, or possibly fight, they were about to have.
Lilia smiled as she saw Eric heading her way. Despite the serious conversation they were about to have, just seeing him made her happy.

Eric walked out of the school toward his car. The afternoon had seemed to drag on forever as he waited eagerly for they day to be over so he and Lilia could have their date. Moving across the parking lot, he spotted Lilia waiting at his car and his face broke into a grin. Eric picked up his pace, and when he arrived at her side, he wrapped his arms around her waist and placed a kiss on her lips, smiling. "Hey, Lil," he said softly, "You ready to go?"

Lilia couldn't help but smile after a kiss like the one Eric gave her. It was almost too perfect. "Yeah, let's get out of here," she replied. She leaned up and kissed him again quickly. "I don't think that will ever get old," she said, smiling up at him.

Eric grinned down at her. "Well I should hope not," he teased, winking. He kissed her once more gently tightening his grip on her before reaching around her to unlock the passenger door. "There you you, m'lady," he said, smiling as he opened the door for her. Moving around the car, he slipped in behind the wheel and started the engine. "Do you need to go home first?" he asked, "Or do you want to go straight to dinner. I know it's a bit early, but I'm hungry!" In truth, he simply didn't want to leave her side for the rest of the evening.

Lilia smiled at Eric as he held the door for her. He was so sweet, she couldn't believe that she'd found a guy like him. "Thank you," she said.
"I probably should go drop off my books. I have a ton of homework this weekend, and if I leave my books in your car I won't get any of it done," Lilia replied. She buckled her seatbelt as the car started moving. She couldn't help but laugh at his last comment. "Football players," she said, rolling her eyes at him. For some reason, teasing Eric was just too much fun.

Eric nodded, turing the car onto the street in the direction of her house. Grinning as Lilia teased him, he said, "Hey, I'm a growing boy!" Eric drive in silence for a few blocks, reaching out to take Lilia's hand in his, content to just be with her. After a while, he asked, "So how was history? Learn anything earth-shattering?"

Lilia glanced over at Eric as he took her hand and smiled. Even though they weren't saying anything, it wasn't the awkward type of silence one usually expects. "History was history. Boring and all in the past," Lilia replied. "I think we were talking about the Mongol empire today... I wasn't really paying attention." She smiled at him. "My mind was sort of on other things."

"Ah, the Mongolians," Eric said with a flourish, as though he had any idea who they were, which he didn't. He squeezed Lilia's hand a little when she mentioned she'd been distracted in class, frowning a little. "Everything okay?" he asked, hoping she wasn't upset with him about their time in the custodian's room.

"Everything's fine," Lilia said, turning to look at him. "I was just too excited about our plans, that's all." She smiled. "If something was wrong, I would tell you." She turned and faced forward for a moment, before deciding to tell him about Josh.
"So, you remember I was telling you about my cousin at the dance the other night? Well, his dad sort of kicked him out of the house a few days ago. So apparently he's living with us now," she said, biting her lip to wait for Eric's reaction.

Eric grinned, unable to hide his own excitement about their date. "Me, too," he agreed. He didn't believe that that was what had been distracting her, but he wasn't going to push her. Not yet, anyway.
After a moment, he realized he wouldn't have to push her at all, and he listened as she spoke of her cousin. Furrowing his brow, Eric tried to remember Lilia telling him about the guy. He replayed the evening in his mind, but still drew a blank. Opening his mouth to ask her who she was talking about, it suddenly hit him and he closed it quickly. Thoughts flew through his head about how he should respond to this information, but none of them were things he would say in front of Lilia. He'd promised. "Oh," was all he could manage, and he gripped the steering wheel a little tighter, staring straight ahead.

"Yeah," Lilia replied. "I just found out, like, five minutes ago myself. When I ran into him at school." She turned to look at Eric, and she could see he was tense. "Eric, just because he's living with us doesn't mean you ever have to see him, if you don't want to. We don't have to do things there. But I thought that you should know, just so you wouldn't be surprised if you saw him around."
Lilia sighed and turned to look back out the window, hoping that this confession wasn't going to ruin their date. She really liked Eric, but she was starting to sense that his issue with her cousin's lifestyle was going to be a really big issue.

As Eric listened to Lilia, he forced himself to relax, but was only partially successful. "I am glad you told me," he began, stiffly, "Not the kind of surprise I really want to get." He glanced over at her, trying to smile, not really sure if it was effective. "I don't think I have to explain how I feel, Lilia. But I'm not going to avoid going to your house because he's there."
Eric sighed, looking back at the road, not sure of what to say. He knew she wanted him to be okay with these people's... choices... but he wasn't. It was all he could do to just be polite to them. "I made you a promise, Lil," he said, taking one hand off of the wheel to rest it on her knee, "And I'm gonna do everything I can to keep it. This just... complicates things." Probably not the best thing to say, he realized after the words were out of his mouth, but he always did have the habit of speaking before thinking.

Lilia smiled, glad that Eric was at least trying. When he said that this made things more complicated, her smile faded. "I know. And I wish that there was something I could do about it. But he is my cousin, after all," she replied. She sighed and took his hand off of her knee, interlocking their fingers. "Thank you. I know you're only making an effort for me. That's really sweet."

Eric tried to smile at Lilia once again, doing a bit better job this time. He didn't feel sweet. He felt like he was slowly being surrounded by these people. First Caroline, then Tommy and Angel, now one of them was going to be living in Lilia's house? He didn't want to be around this guy. Didn't want to see him with his boyfriends - even the very thought of it made his skin crawl.
Shaking his head, Eric forcefully changed his train of thought. He squeezed Lilia's hand. "Look, Lil, it's not about them anyway. It's about you and me. I'm sure I can deal with your cousin. I'll survive." Deep inside, he hoped that was true.

Lilia smiled and leaned over to kiss Eric on the cheek. "Thank you," she whispered. "I'll make sure it doesn't come up when you two are around each other, okay? I want this to work, no matter what happens with my family right now. And you're right. Josh doesn't matter. It's our relationship that's important."
