Joanne lead Caroline to her car. It was somewhat surprising to most people that Joanne did not have a new car. In fact she drove a 66 Chevy Nova. She loved her Nova, but most people looked at her oddly. She thought it was a classic.
"Here we are." Joanne said, pointing out the dark blue car. She fished through her keys until she found her car key.
"Did you wanna stretch out in the back? I can probably move the seat some?" Joanne offered.

"Wow..." Caroline said staring at the car. Not that she had any expertise with cars whatsoever, she just shocked. "It still moves? And I hope you don't take that personally. It looks...vintage." Was the word that she decided to use for it. "Oh no it's ok. I think I can handle sitting down ok. It's not on the lower part of me thankfully." With those words out of her mouth, she blushed slightly.
"I um...I'm sorry what I said about your car. Can I blame it on my illness?"

"Yes it runs, it runs better than a lot of the crappy cars out today." Joanne informed her unlocking Caroline's door. she slid in behind the wheel. "It looks vintage because it is. This is a 66 Chevy nova, that I work to hard keeping in cherry condition." When Caroline apologized and asked to blame her illness Joanne shook her head.
"Nope, you'll have to blame it on not knowing anything about classic cars." She told her trying not to laugh.

"Oh ok. Well thank goodness for my ignorance," Caroline said with a giggle as she started to scratch at her arm. "I really don't know a thing about cars. I walk to school...and everywhere. We have a car, but I think the fender...I think that's what it was called...it's kinda hanging off. So this is definitely nicer." Looking around at the car she couldn't help but feel awkward. There were moments that she felt like there was a huge divide between them. Class and money, specifically.

"I probably would too, but I worked my rear off to get this car, so I'm going to end up keeping it forever I'm sure." She laughed. Truth be told, Joanne's parents had been mortified she wanted this car and not the Mercedes they tried to get her. "This is just quicker than waiting for the bus." She fastened her seat belt and turned on the car. She would glad her Beatles CD was in the car and not something more embarrassing.

"Oh really? Where do you work?" Caroline asked with a raised brow. "I didn't know you worked somewhere." She scratched her neck absently, not even realizing that she was doing so. "I'm sure it is..." When the Beatles came over the car radio, Caroline smiled. "I kinda like these guys. Some of them. One of them is freaky. I don't know what it's called but the...'If I catch you with another man little girl...' something about him killing her...or maybe I heard that wrong..." Wonderful, first she was picking on her car, now her music.

Joanne smiled. "At this moment in time, no where. I work during the summers, as I'm often to busy during the school year. But I would balance my time between being a camp counselor and working at Brady's law firm as a secretary. I worked almost three summers for this car." She turned down the music a little bit. "I'm not sure what song your referring too." She told her with a shrug. Joanne cared very little if people liked her car or her choice in music because they were HER choices.

"Oh I'm sorry, I think you mentioned that before. Once again, I blame the itchy spots..." Caroline looked down at her arm and wondered how it must have been. To have a place in the world before you were even out in it. Joanne would get a job at some big firm no doubt. And Caroline? Who knew. If she didn't get a full scholarship she was screwed. It would be waitressing for the rest of her life. And she knew that should couldn't support Jonas with that. "Oh...don't worry about it. I don't really know the name of it. It might not even be theirs..."

Joanne shrugged and headed in the direction of Sante Fe. The song switched over. "If I fell in love with you, would you promise to be true and help me understand, cause I've been in love before, and I found that love was more than just holding hands.." She sang along quietly, she broke off as she slowed to a stop light. If only she could remember where exactly Santa Fe was. She rolled her eyes as a Semi tried to make an illegal U-turn and held them up at the light.
"Semi's aren't even suppose to be on this road." She muttered.

As Joanne started to sing along with the Beatles, Caroline couldn't help but watch and smile. Her voice was pretty impressive. She made a mental note to get her to sing more often. Glancing up at Joanne when she seemed to faulter, she asked quietly, "We ok?"
"No...probably not. Especially when they're illegally turning," Caroline said raising her voice and shouting out the window.

Joanne laughed. She couldn't help it. "At least your not screaming obscenities out the window." She shook her head. "I gave a friend a ride home once and some jack ass cut us off and she proceeded to scream every filthy word she could think of at the guy." She shook her head. When the Semi finally completed it's turn, she was able to pull forward.
"Well now we're stuck at this light, but I can see Santa Fe from here." Joanne said with a smile.

"Oh wow..." Caroline laughed and relaxed into the car seat. "Yeah, I don't have that issue. I mean, I have issues but not ones that are going to throw me into Anger Management classes. Those classes can't be fun...everyone angry..." She scratched at her arm absently.
"What do you think would happen if we parked right here?" She asked with a mischevious smirk. "You think the people behind us would mind?"

"Anger Management I think is kinda a joke." Joanne said shaking her head. "They give you elementary topics and think it'll work." She shook her head, rolling her eyes slightly. "Like counting to ten is really ALL that helpful." She glanced at her when Caroline joked about leaving the car.
"Are you mad woman?" She teased. "This is my baby, I'm not abandoning it. Besides, someone might mind enough to ram it."

Caroline laughed her face lighting up. "I never thought of it that way," She replied impressed with Joanne's observation. "Maybe the more advanced classes should have you do your ABC's. You know when you're really pissed off."
"Aww you're no fun," Caroline teased. "So you really like this car huh? Do you take care of it yourself? Like wash it and...fix it? Or do you have someone do it for you?" Joanne had maids for goodness sakes. Maybe she had a car maid.

"Oh yes, by the time your done with your ABCs the person your mad at will have ample time to get away." She laughed, shaking her head in amusement. When Caroline asked if she really loved her car she nodded.
"Oh yes, I love my car." When Caroline asked her if she took care of it and fixed it or had someone do it for her she grinned. "I do it, I had my cousin teach me the basic mechanics of it and I do engine work, oil changes, all that jazz." She finally was able to pull up to Santa Fe.
"Ready to eat?" She asked with a grin, as she pulled into a parking space.
