Joanne stared at the computer screen angrily. For the fifth or sixth time the message flashed at her that it could not find the printer. She checked all connections, and checked the unprinted files. She wished her parents hadn't taken her computer away, claiming it wasn't new enough for her, she never had this problem at home.
"What do you mean you can't find it." She finally hissed. "It's three feet away from you!"

Maureen was walking by the room when she heard Joanne's voice from inside. Poking her head in, she grinned. "Hey there, problems?" She really had no idea how to fix anything, but she was bored, and nobody was in the hall so she was just glad to have somebody to talk to.
She wore a pair of faded blue jeans that she had rolled up into a capris style and a light blue tank top with a brown jacket over it. Her hair was done up in curls and she had gone for her hoop earrings that morning.

When Maureen asked if she was having problems, Joanne glanced up and smiled a little. "Hi, yeah, it can't find the printer, even though, it's right there." She said motioning in disgust to the printer. She stood, eager to get away from the offending pieces of equipment. Once she was standing, she revealed her black pleated skirt, and white and red top. She felt ackward next to the much more stylish girl.

Maureen moved over, looking at the back. "Last time I had a problem with this the teacher just changed the printer name. Cause it's supposed to say printer two but it likes to look for printer one." She explained. "I don't really know how to do it, I just know that he told me that."
She grinned at Joanne. "Or you can always just use the lack of a printer as an excuse not to pass whatever it is in."

Joanne cracked a smile when Maureen said to use it as an excuse to not turn in the assignment. "It's my debate notes." She explained, "They have to be typed in order to be submitted. I have a computer at home, but my parents took it before they left for the Hamptons." Joanne mentally rolled her eyes, her parents were always at the Hamptons, or Florida, or somewhere that wasn't with her.
"I like your earrings." Joanne said, in an attempt to change the subject. "And your outfit." She tacted on.

Maureen looked down at it, still grinning. "Yeah, I love this top." She decided. "It's so simply, but goes really well in an outfit." She moved over. "I was thinking of joining the debate cluib. Is it too late for me to do it?"

"Um," Joanne said when Maureen asked her about the debate club. "I don't think so..." To her knowledge, the debate club was, you showed up, and you debated something, and if they liked you, you were on the team. She relayed this to Maureen.
"So you could give it a shot." She said with a shrug. she tried what Maureen said her teacher did, and the printer shot to life. Estatically, she watched as it printed out.

Maureen jumped up to sit on one of the free spaces on a desk. "Oh, well, I'll have to drop by then. Hold up, what time is it? I mean, I got to make sure I'm not already doing something at that time, like drama or whatever. Say, you should join the drama club! We're trying to figure out what play we're doing for the end of the year now, so it's still open for new members."

"It's usually at 4 on Thursdays and Fridays. It goes until about six." She replied, When Maureen said she should join the Drama club she smiled at her. "Oh, I don't think I'd do a very good job in the Drama club." She told her.
"I'm good at aruging a point, but not so much making someone believe that I'm something else."

Maureen shrugged her shoulders. "Ah well, I tried. I just think you'd look awesome on stage. You got a real good presense." She rummaged through her purse, taking out her lip gloss to re-apply it. "And yeah, no, that sounds good. I mean, apart from you not joining drama. I'll definately drop in and see about the debate thing."

"I'm just..." Joanne began in an attempt to excuse herself from the conversation before shrugging. "I'm not a very good actress is all. I don't know if can sing, and I can't make anyone beleive anything. Maybe I'll sit in on a rehersal or two." The last page of her paper printed out and she grabbed it up in a hurry.
"Thank you for the idea, it worked!" She said gleefully, she almost hugged the other girl, before realizing that would be bad. She flushed in embrassment, glad her darker skin hid it mostly.

Maureen's smile just grew larger, if that were possible. "Hey, no problem. Look, I guess I'll see you around, Jo. You mind if I call you that, or you not like nicknames? Some people don't. Course, I've used.. much worse nicknames before. Can't say I blame them. My cousin Whitney, I call her Stickney because she's so skinny."

"That's fine." She said with a smile. "My dad calls me kitten, anything has to be better than that." She said making a face. "Yeah, I'll see you at debate club." She said with a smile. "I'll catch you later." She said. She flashed Maureen a brilliant smile and hurried out the door, calling over her shoulder.
"Thanks again!"
((Joanne Out to cafeteria. Thanks Maureen, the RP was fun. hope your play is going well!))
