Dwayne simply kept smiling at her and shaking his head. "That's just it. I thought I had to travel, get out of this town...but I don't. I don't need that anymore." He stroked her cheek with his thumb. "You're my anchor baby. You make staying worth it."

"You sure? I can't see how I'd make a place somebody didn't like worth it for anybody. Anchor's a bad word for it. It sounds like I'm holding you down, holding you back." Lilly couldn't deny that his touch still did crazy things to her, regardless of what he was saying.

Dwayne smiled weakly. "I'm with you on how it's the wrong word for it. Otherwise, believe me on that. Besides, it's not like I'm throwing life away." He kissed her on the forehead as if to reassure her. "Anyways, I thought were were going to relax on that topic?"

"Sorry, it was just bothering me. But I'm good now, I promise." Lilly grinned, running a finger down his nose. "I promise. So...more papers, or have I distracted you from that for too long now?"

Dwayne internally sighed of relief. The last thing he wanted was for her to be worried. Especially about him. He then bit his lip. "Well, I'd like to be able to have a social life for the next few weeks, so I think more papers would be a good idea," he admitted, obviously quite reluctant.

Lilly smiled softly and kissed his cheek. "No problem. I'd like you to have a social life too. So let's get crackin on these papers, shall we? Would you mind if I took the closer papers? I'll take Harvard and Yale if you want. Brown even. I'll do the tricky ones."

Dwayne smiled gratefully. "If you want to, it'd be great." He kissed her lightly on the forehead before settling back down. "I'm guessing those aren't too far away for your liking?" he asked as he got started on the one that stopped dead in his tracks. Yes, he hated it, but his mother wanted the best for him and it wouldn't kill him to humor her. Besides, if he got accepted, he would probably have other options. Closer options. Less likely to ruin things with him and Lilly options.

"Not too far. Papers, please?" Lilly drummed her fingers on the table. "I can't help you without the papers. And as much as I'd like to just do other things right now, you have to get this done. Right? So let's do it."

Dwayne smiled weakly as he handed her the necessary papers. "Yeah, because even with getting at this right now, we're going to be here for a while. So we'll get it over with." He sighed a bit as he finished up the one for Florida and reached out for another.

"Oooh, do California next. I want that one out of my sight. Here, take it," Lilly urged, stuffing the paper into his hand. "Thank you!" She grinned widely for a moment before going back to the other papers.

Dwayne chuckled a bit. "Oh, so you don't think I don't want it out of my sight?" he asked as he grabbed the papers, a wide smirk on his face. "You know full well I hate the idea as much as you do." He decided to stop being a smartass and just get the damn papers done.

Lilly leaned over and kissed his ear quickly before going back to her work. "I know. But I've already had to deal with it. Now you deal with it. Only fair, right? That way, it's your own fault if you get in."

Dwayne chuckled. "Okay, I see your point there. Anyway, don't jinx us. Even if I do get accepted, I will hopefully have more options. Whichever's the closest..." He was muttering now. He wanted these done.

~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ At this point, Lilly had nearly collapsed over the table. Who knew there were so many colleges in the world? She certainly didn't. She saw at least three private colleges in New York, and some public ones, so it was going pretty well. She layed her head on the table and looked up at Dwayne out of the corner of her eye. "Are we done?" she asked, voice weak from work.

Dwayne sighed as he finally placed down his pen. "Thank God, yes." He massaged his temples slightly. "I know I'll thank my mother for making me do this later, but still..." It was times like this when he realized it paid to have a postal worker for a father.
