"Exactly. And I'm glad you understand that. Baseball cap or not..." She motioned toward her own hat as if to make a point. "...I am a girl and I have a romantic side."
She then smirked. "Yeah, good luck with that. There's nothing really going on with me...had a mild catfight with this total bitch in the cafeteria because she was badmouthing people...talked to Lilly...same old, same old."

"Yea all girls have a romantic side don't they?" He joked. "Thanks, but I'm not exactly a major player that our team needs to win. Oh wow, seems like you had an interesting day. But my day wasn't at all interesting, class, hang with Mark...the only thing good about today is that I got to see you," He then paused.

April sent a sideways glance toward Roger at his comment. She smiled slightly. "Oh really?" she asked casually, playing with the dirt beneath her fingernails. "Well, that's a lovely compliment."

"Uh..yea I guess," He said awkwardly. "So did anyone ask you to Homecoming yet?" He asked. He was hoping to gradually get into that topic but it didn't work.

April raised an eyebrow, but kept her eyes down as to hide her smirk. "Nope. Not as of yet." He really wasn't hard to read at that moment. She was internally jittering with excitement. After all, she had known Roger for a while, he was always pretty cute and it was fun being around him. He'd be a great date.

"Oh is that so? I wonder why no one asked you yet, I mean you would be a great person to go with," He looked at her and blushed a little. He never really had feelings for any girl in a while and he had known April for quite some time. But there was something about her that he hadn't caught before and it wasn't making him feel different.

April finally looked up, smirking widely. "Roger, are you trying to ask me to the homecoming?" she asked. "And thanks, I appreciate that sentiment" she added in response to his earlier comment. She held in a giggle when she realized that he was blushing. Behind the tough guy image he seemed to give out, he was quite a softy and April knew it.

Roger couldn't believe what April just said. I mean he was going to ask her but it would have taken him a while to gather up the courage to ask her. "Uh well, yea I am, I mean April would you be my date to Homecoming?" He asked but with some courage. He couldn't believe he blushed either, he was more of a tough guy but she made him feel like a different person.

April couldn't help but laugh. She clutched her sides for a minute but then took a deep breath. Maintaining whatever composure she had left, she said calmly, "Roger, yes, I'd love to go with you and I'm sorry I had to laugh right there. You're just too cute when you're nervous." She smirked. Subtlety wasn't her strongest point and that was fine with her.

He felt super embarrassed and didn't know what to say. I mean he was happy that April said yes but the fact that he was nervous upset him a little. "Uh thanks I guess," He said and looked away. He put his hands in his pockets and didn't know what to say now.

April raised an eyebrow. "Roger...you okay? You seem a bit...upset. Was it because I laughed, because I really am sorry about that." She tilted her head, examining his expression for a minute. "Or is it because you were nervous, because that's nothing to be ashamed of."

"Ah well I mean yea I'm a bit upset but it's not your fault. Yeah, you're like the only person besides Mark who has ever seem me nervous...I don't open up to people like that and when I do, I mess up." He wondered if this would over turn out to be something more.

April's face fell. "That's tragic Roger. We gotta do something about that. If you don't open up to people, how are people going to know what a great guy you are?" she asked simply, crossing her arms. Possible future boyfriend or not, Roger was a good guy and really needed to show that more.

"But that's why my mom forced me to take Drama, so that I can express myself better. But it never did help me yet. Great guy...never thought myself as a great guy actually," Roger said. He had great friends in his life and would always be thankful for them.

"Ahh, now it all makes sense" April responded, nodding slowly. "And you should, because you are. Anyways, if Drama isn't working, I suppose we'll just have to find a different way, hmm?" She let a smile creep onto her face.
