Benny smiled at Mimi as they left Smitty's, happy to be outside. "Glad to know I'm your favourite," he said with a wink, "Wouldn't have wanted to fight off the other goofs for your hand." Taking a bit of his ice cream, he made a little satisfied noise, then held it out to her. "Want some, Meems?" he asked, innocently, knowing full well she hated pistaccio.

Mimi smiled back, shaking her head at his comment. "Well, of course you are. You know full well I don't put up with any other goofs. You should feel special," she told him jokingly, still smiling. She licked at her own icecream as they walked, glad it wasn't terribly warm out so it didn't melt as quickly. She shook her head in response to his question, replying, "Nah, thanks, I think I'm good to go for now."

Benny grinned. "Oh, I do, Meems," he said, seriously, placing a hand to his heart, "It gets me, right here." Laughing a little, Benny wrapped his free arm around Mimi's waist as they walked. After walking a few blocks in silence, Benny asked, "Did you hear what happened to Tommy?" It wasn't the most pleasant topic of conversation, but he thought Mimi might have heard something about who did it. If she had, it would make it a lot easier for Benny...

Mimi laughed as well, shaking her head. "Well, as long as you're aware. Can't have you think I'm putting up with other goofs behind your back. It's just not nice," she replied, smiling. She wrapped her free arm around Benny, resting her head on his shoulder gently while the walked. She glanced up at him when he spoke, her brow furrowing in concern. "No. What happened? It wasn't Cathrine again, was it?"

Benny ran his hand lightly up and down Mimi's waist. He sighed a little before speaking. "Someone trashed his locker," he said, simply. He didn't really need to go into more detail than that. "I thought you might have heard something from your dance friends... maybe they mentioned that their boyfriends had done something." He shrugged, trying to keep his tone light. He didn't want her to know what his plans were if he ever did find out who had done this.

Mimi gasped softly, shaking her head. People were horrible. She'd never be able to understand how people got off on making others miserable. "No, I haven't. No one's said anything, anyway. You sure it was one of the guys on the football team?" she asked, raising a brow. She knew they were the most likely candidates, but you could never be too sure around here. It seemed anyone was up for torturing others, no matter the cost and, a lot of times, without any reason.

"No," Benny admitted, "I don't know who did it. But I'm going to find out..." he let his voice trail off, taking another bite of his ice cream. He never was good at thinking before he spoke, and he hoped Mimi didn't pick up on his intentions. He thought he'd stopped himself quickly enough, but...
Trying to change the subject, he said, "I'm gonna buy Tommy a new copy of Catcher in the Rye." Well, not a new one, but a new copy of the first edition, like the one he had. He'd already asked his father to look for one, since he worked in the city and would probably have more luck. Benny took Mimi's free hand in his, hoping he didn't sound too awkward. In reality, all he could think of was what he was going to do to the people who had trashed Tommy's locker.

Mimi nodded, having a feeling he was up to something, but not saying anything. She didn't want to be the cause of any rension between them. "Alright. if you hear anything, or need me to help snoop, let me know, okay babe?"
Her brow furrowed at Benny's comment. "How come?" she asked, not putting two and two together very quickly. When it did dawn on her, she could've smacked herself. "Oh, nevermind. I take it it was in the locker?" Of course it was, you idiot. Why else would he be buying the book? she asked herself, shaking her head gently. "Sorry, kinda out of it. Those assholes," she muttered, assuming that more than one person was involved. Something like this was usually a group effort.

Benny sighed. "Okay. Well, any snooping you could do would be great." Mimi was one amazing snoop, he knew that. "You know," he said playfully, "You should become a spy!"
"Yeah, it was," Benny said, a little sadly, remembering Tommy's expression when he had pulled out the dripping book. "It was soaked. I wrapped it in a towel, but when I went to look at it again... it's all wrinkled, Meems. Why would someone do that?" Benny's fists clench in anger. He wished whoever had done this hadn't been such a coward, had done it openly. He couldn't wait to get his hands on them.

((oh my god, i'm so sorry this took so long. i've had a bunch of stuff with school with it being the end of the year. i'll be on more here after about a week, promise. ) Mimi smiled, nodding. "I'll do my best. But, it's kinda known that I'm a horrible snoop, so people tend to not trust me with things." She shrugged, catching a drop of her melting ice cream with her tongue before it reached her hand. Swallowing, she giggled, shaking her head. "Oh, no. I wouldn't make a decent spy. I'd get caught somewhere along the way and turn myself in as opposed to getting away. Cause I'm just cool like that," she joked, laughing again. She frowned deeply, shaking her head. She'd never understand the kids here and their ways of providing entertainment for themselves. Did people no longer have lives? "I don't know baby. People are just sick like that. They have nothing better to do with their time than make others miserable." She reached her free hand around and rubbed his back gently, attempting to calm him down. "But there's no use you getting worked up over it now. It won't do any good until you find the bastard that did it. Then you kick his ass."

((Tee hee! Now it's my turn to apologize... I stopped looking after a while, so I didn't notice you had replied )) Benny laughed along with Mimi. Her sense of humour was one of the things he loved most about her. "Then I'd have to come rescue you," he teased, "Be your knight in shining armour!" Benny sighed a little as he listened, knowing she was right. "I know, Mimi. But once I do..." he let the statement hang in the air, not needing to elaborate. Shaking himself out of the sombre mood he had fallen into, he took a big bite of his ice cream, squeezing Mimi's hand. "What would you like to do tonight, babe?"

((not a big deal. i don't blame you. i would've given up on myself after awhile too, lol.)) "Ya know, knights in shining armour are really overused," Mimi commented jokingly. "Why don't you be my Jedi and come swinging in with your lightsaber! Nobody really expects that, so you'd catch 'em off guard." She sighed softly, squeezing his hand gently. "Just don't get in over your head. I don't want to have to come save you with my lightsaber. I haven't taken enough classes yet," she teased, laughing. She shrugged at his question, laughing to herself as he plowed into his ice cream. "It honestly makes no difference to me. Your pick. Surprise me."

Benny pretended to ponder that. "That's a good idea," he said, nodding, "Make me that uch more memorable, too!" he added with a laugh. "Your Jedi in a brown cloak!"
"You know what?" he asked, voice light, "This is going to sound really stupid, but... let's go to the park! Do you have any idea how long it's been since I've sat on top of those monkey bars? Used to be my favourite place to go. And I could use a light-hearted place right now." That was the truth. He wanted to escape what had happened for a while, before it became necessary for him to do something about it.

"My point exactly! Knights get forgotten after awhile, but everyone remembers the Jedi," Mimi explained with a giggle. She smiled at his suggestion, nodding animatedly in agreement. "That doesn't sound stupid! I haven't been to the park in ages myself. That sounds perfect." She slipped an arm around his waist, resting her head on Benny's shoulder. ((Gah, sorry about how much that posts suck. Couldn't really think of much. Next one will be better, I promise. )

Benny smiled at Mimi, wrapping his arm around her shoulders as they headed for the park. He pushed away all thoughts of the incident with Tommy's locker, choosing to focus instead on enjoying his time with Mimi.
