Lilia pushed open the door of the store and looked around. She didn't really want to be there, but she had to do it some time. She sighed when she saw a couple of people from school in the store. She did not want anyone to find out what she was doing. That would be social suicide. Instead of heading straight for what she'd come in for, she decided to hang out around the makeup aisle and pretend to be interested.

Eric sauntered into the store, and headed straight for the familiar aisle. He'd been here enough times, he was sure he could find what he'd come for with his eyes closed. He had a date with Lilia, and wanted to be prepared. They'd been a bit foolish their first time, and he wasn't going to make that mistake again, no way. The last thing he wanted was a kid. Not taking notice of the other kids in the store, he quickly scanned the various boxes before snagging the one he was looking for.

Lilia looked up, nervous, as the bell over the door rang. She took a deep breath as she recognized Eric walking in, and decided to walk over and talk to him. She saw what he was buying and sighed, knowing that she had to tell him what was going on eventually. "We need to talk," she told him, grabbing his arm as she spoke. She purposely kept her back to the display Eric was looking at.

Eric blinked, startled when Lilia suddenly stepped in front of him. A grin crossed his face and he leaned in to offer a quick kiss. "Hey Lil," he said happily, "I didn't see you here." Of course he hadn't - he'd been too busy thinking about their date. He frowned a little, seeing how tense she looked, and asked, "What's wrong?"

"Not here," she told him, looking around. She didn't want the whole school to know their private business. She took his hand and pulled him back towards the back corner of the store. She noticed that he still had the box in his hand and sighed, smiling weakly at him. "Too bad we didn't have any of those the first time," she said. She reached up and pushed her hair back with one hand, trying to figure out how she was going to tell him. "We screwed up, Eric. Bad."

Eric's eyes narrowed at Lilia's demeanour, her tone and her words making him a bit nervous. Was she... breaking up with him? Eric had never been dumped before, and the thought of it made his stomach flip flop, though not for any reason it might have before he met Lilia. It was because he didn't want to lose her; he'd never cared for someone this much, and the thought of her leaving him was almost too much.
But when Lilia spoke again, having dragged him into a corner, he began to think that maybe breaking up wouldn't have been the worst news. He felt himself go pale, unwilling to accept what he thought she was saying. "What do you mean?" he asked cautiously.

Lilia watched Eric's face closely, trying to gauge what his reaction would be. She could tell that something had clicked in his head, because he looked somewhat nervous. "I think it's a little late for buying those," she replied, motioning towards the box in his hands. She sighed, and looked away from him for a moment, unsure of how to word her response to his question. She still wasn't sure how he was going to react to this kind of news. Finally, she decided to just tell him. "Eric, I think I might be pregnant."

"What?" he exclaimed, much louder than necessary, before suddenly remembering where he was. "What?" he asked again, his voice a harsh whisper this time. Though he had been expecting those words, it didn't make them any easier to hear. Lilia couldn't be pregnant. She couldn't be! No way! This couldn't be happening to him! "Why did you say you think?" he asked, voice a little unsteady, grasping at straws. She didn't really know, right? She just thought she might be. But she wasn't, really. That was it. She was just... just... making this up.

Lilia sighed, somewhat upset by his reaction. She hadn't expected him to take it well, but she hadn't expected him to be so unsure of what she was saying. "Do I really need to spell it out for you, Eric?" she asked, a bit harsher than expected. She shook her head. "I'm late... morning sickness... need I go on?"

Eric raked a hand through his hair, eyes darting around the store, hoping no one could hear them. "But... but that happens sometimes, right?" he asked, inwardly cringing at the desperation in his voice. "You could be sick, right?" That had to be it. She was just sick, not pregnant. She couldn't be pregnant!

Lilia shook her head. She really couldn't believe she was hearing him correctly. Tears began to fill her eyes again, but she brushed them away before they could actually fall. "You know, I actually thought you would be a little more understanding," she replied. "I guess everyone else was right about you. I should have listened to what other people had to say. Because apparently, I'm just as bad at making relationships work as my mother." She walked away from him and over to the item she needed, picking one up and walking towards the counter.

For a moment, all Eric could do was stare after Lilia as she walked away from him, her words ringing in his ears. He didn't understand what he had done. Surely she didn't excpect him to be excited about the idea of her being pregnant? They were just kids! They weren't anywhere near ready to be parents! Finally gathering himself, he followed her to the counter, cringing as he watched her pick up a pregnancy test. "Lilia," he called out to her, in a stage whisper, though he didn't know why, "Don't walk away from me," he grabbed her arm, pulling her gently toward him and away from the cashier, who was throwing strange looks his way. "What do you want me to say, Lil?" he asked her, "'Oh, this is wonderful?' You're 15! How do you expect me to react?"

Lilia raised an eyebrow and looked down at his hand on her arm. "Don't touch me," she hissed. She pulled her arm away and sighed. "You don't have to be excited, but you could at least trust me to know what the symptoms mean. Besides, you're only 18, and you sure as hell didn't seem to give a shit about my age when we were getting into this mess." She pulled away from him and walked up to the cash register, putting down the test and her money. She ignored the look the cashier was giving her.

Eric followed her back to the counter, shooting the cashier an equally dirty look as the one she was currently giving Lilia. He wouldn't have anyone look at her that way. He didn't say anything more just yet, preferring to wait until they were somewhere that no one could listen in on their conversation. He grabbed the bag when the purchase had been rung in and took Lilia's hand, leading her out of the store as he shot one last glare at the cashier.
Once outside, he continued to lead Lilia through the parking lot to his car, unlocking it and holding the door open for her.

Lilia rolled her eyes as Eric led her out to his car. She wasn't in the mood to deal with him right now, especially not after his reaction. But, it was beginning to look like she wasn't going to have much choice. He did have a right to know, anyway.
She got into Eric's car and waited for him to get in the driver's seat before saying anything. "Where are we going?" she asked, refusing to look at him as she buckled her seatbelt.
