Eric slid into the driver's seat, not bothering with his seatbelt, and sighed. "We're not going anywhere. I just didn't feel like having this conversation in front of God-knows-who in the middle of the store." His voice still had an edge to it, and he paused, taking a deep breath and trying to calm himself. He didn't want this to turn into a fight, but it seemed it was already heading in that direction. Glancing over to the bag Lilia was holding, he shook his head and asked, quietly, "What happens if that thing says you are?"

Lilia looked out the window and sighed. "I don't know. I don't know what I'm going to do. I don't know anything right now," Lilia replied. "You'll have to figure out what you want to do, too. You're just as much a part of this as I am, after all."

"I know I am, Lil," he told her, running a hand through his hair, "I was so stupid... I can't believe I did that!" His mind raced. He'd never expected to be in a situation like that. He didn't want kids! Especially not now! He wasn't ready for that kind of responsibility. They weren't ready. What the hell was he going to do?

Lilia sighed and looked down at the bag in her hands. Tears began to fill her eyes as she thought. "I'm not ready for this, Eric. I can't do this," she said. She reached up her hand to wipe away the tears before they could fall. "We need to know for sure, Eric. Then we can figure out what we're goint to do about the situation."

Those tears immediately brought Eric out of his own thoughts. All he could think of in that moment was comforting her, of making them go away. He knew that this time he might not be able to, but it didn't mean he wasn't going to try. He shifted in his seat and leaned closer to her, wrapping his arms around her. It was awkward in the confines of the car, but he needed to hold her. "Don't cry, Lil," he said softly, "We'll figure it out. We will. We'll get through this." He followed her gaze to the bag once more before asking, "Do you want to come to my place? We can do it there."

Lilia closed her eyes and leaned her head against Eric's shoulder. She didn't care about anything that had happened earlier in the store at that point. All she wanted was to know that Eric was there for her. She took a deep breath and nodded before answering his question. "Yeah, I guess that would be best. My mom's home, and I really don't want to have this conversation with her just yet," Lilia replied. She leaned back in the seat. "Your mom's at work, right?" she asked.

"Probably," Eric replied. His mother was almost always at work. It seemed like she was only home long enough to eat and sleep before going back. He held Lilia a little longer before kissing her temple and pulling away to start the car. Leaving the parking lot, he tried to offer her a comforting smile. "It'll be okay," he said, trying to believe it himself. Lilia couldn't be pregnant. She couldn't. It was only one time!

Lilia nodded and closed her eyes as they pulled out of the parking lot. She was terrified of the possibilities, but she knew it had to be done. She smiled and nodded when he told her that everything would be okay. She just sincerely hoped that he was right.
Lilia didn't move to get out of the car as they pulled up in Eric's driveway. It was only a short drive from the store, so she hadn't had much time to prepare herself.
