"Ah...there goes that. You gotta concentrate in order to play instruments. Except the drums. Those might be ok..." Caroline said more to herself than Lilia. She learned by playing in the high school bands that the drummers weren't always....home in the brain.
"That's good. Or else we'd have to use one of those crappy recordings...and then the pit would go on strike cause they were implying that recordings could compare with real music...it would be quite messy." Caroline looked at her watch. "I think we got ten minutes."

"I wouldn't trust the boy with a drum. He would either trhow the sticks at someone or end up with his head in the drum," Lilia replied, smiling. "Besides, drummers aren't known for being very intelligent."
"Recordings? Gross," Lilia replied. "Yeah, I think everyone else in the pit would mutiny if that happened. But I'm not the only person at this school who can play violin. I guess I'm just the only one who volunteered."

Caroline laughed after Lilia's words. "Yeah...I'm with you. I just didn't wanna go out and say that you had to be dumb in order to play the drums...but you know, good to know I"m not alone in that thought process," She winked at the girl and giggled.
"I suppose we do have more. But can they play good. That's also a question. That's like people who play the oboe. You can tell who sucks and who is good. If the oboe sounds like a dying duck, they're bad. But if it sounds like a musical instrument then they're good. I think it's kinda like that with the violin..." Caroline shrugged as she pressed her fingers on the three keys of her trumpet. "I'd rather not have a dying cat screaming to Fiddler."

Lilia smiled. "Glad to know I didn't offend you with that," Lilia replied. "Its pretty much a universal thing."
Lilia thought for a minute. "Well, if the school has an orchestra, I would guess that there have to be some decent violin players. Unless the orchestra is sucky, in which case I would say that there probably aren't any."

"Yep," Caroline nodded. "There's gotta be a smart drummer out there somewhere...it would be a long and heardy search but I'm sure that somehow it would happen." She giggled to herself and crossed her legs.
Caroline smirked and then sighed to herself. "Well no offense to Scarsdale but they really don't have enough money in the music program. What else is new right? We always get a new football field every few weeks. Who knew there were so many types of grass?"

"Well, I suppose if you looked really hard, you might find a smart drummer. Maybe if you found a female drummer," Lilia said. "The guys all seem too immature to me."
"That sucks. I mean, I'm dating a football player, but still... does anyone like football enough to justify all of that waste?" she asked. "But unless you go to an arts school, you aren't going to find a well-funded music program anywhere in the country."

"Yeah, girl drummer. I think that's the key," Caroline said to her with a thoughtful nod. "In fact, I would find a girl pretty attractive if she played drums. As long as she got the brains cause you know...brains kinda important. Barbie wasn't really cool for me. I prefered her brunette friend...crap what was her name? Was it Kelli? Oh no I think that was her little sister..." Caroline was soon lost in thought.
"Yep," Caroline said with a sigh. "Welcome to America. And you...you're dating Erik aren't you?" She asked with a raised brow. "Well that's good in a way. Maybe our parents will realize that him and me were never meant to be."

"Oh yeah, brains are definitely important. I mean, what good is a pretty face if there's nothing to back it up?" Lilia asked, smiling. She thought hard for a minute. "I don't remember. Kelli was her sister. So were Stacy and Skipper."
"Yeah, Eric. Hope it works out that way; I want his mom to like me," Lilia replied.

"It's very boring I'm sure," Caroline said with a nod. "That's why I like the girl I'm with...well kinda. Joanne...Jefferson. You know her? She's...like genius material. And she can really cook like a crazy chef person," She smiled deeply although she knew that she wasn't making much sense.
"Oh she probably will," Caroline nodded not wanting to scare the girl away. "I think she just wants Eric to settle down...at least a little bit more than he has been, you know?" Eric's mother was just barking up the wrong tree. She licked her lips and blew through her mouth piece to keep it ready.

"I don't think I've met her. But then again, I really haven't met that many people," Lilia replied. "That's one of the things that really sucks about being the new kid."
"Actually, I really don't know. I mean, I met him because I literally ran into him," Lilia said. "And not in the figure of speech type of running into him."

"Oh yeah," Caroline said with a nod. "Well don't worry about it. I'm sure I'll introduce you two eventually." She smiled as she shifted in her chair. Caroline liked to believe that they would make it past the two week period that was usual for high school relationships. They weren't exactly the normal couple anyway...maybe that would help.
"Aw really?" Caroline asked with a small giggle. "That's kinda cute. Not that I can imagine Eric...ever being cute. Sorry honey. I hope you don't take it personally...I've been forced to be in a room with him against my will...I think that kinda makes me...not really be fond of him."

"Yeah, eventually. She sounds like a really cool person," Lilia replied.
"More like mortally embarassing. It was my first day here, and I had pretty much all of my stuff because my locker refused to open. It went flying everywhere." She listened to Caroline's explanation as to why she wasn't fond of Eric. "I don't like half the people I'm forced to spend time with, either. Mostly my dad's family," she replied.
Lilia glanced down at her watch with a sigh. "I'm kinda getting bored. I think I'll go try to find Josh. I'll talk to you later, okay?" Lilia asked, smiling. She put away her violin and walked out of the room, headed towards the greenroom.

"Oh ok...bye...." Caroline waved. "Sorry I'm not amusing...." She sighed and leaned back into her chair. Caroline looked around wondering what she could do now.
