Lilly groaned and lifted her head of the desk. "So what's new with you guys?" she asked, however much it didn't sound like that. It sounded more like "soowatnew...yougah?" Her lack of sleep and her high temperature kept her from acting anything like a usual living, breathing human being. Looking over Angel's shoulder, she brightened a little. "Ooh! Doodle."

April's eyes lit up when Miss Dale had to leave. That meant she could cheer everyone up without getting "the look". She smirked and mentally steepled her fingers. She glanced toward Angel with a wide smile as he began doodling. "Was the math giving you a headache dear?" she asked, her smile becoming more of a smirk. Being a good student wasn't all it was cracked up to be, after all.
She glanced toward Lilly, her expression extremely concerned. "Umm...Lill, I don't think the reception in this room's that good considering I have no clue what you're saying," she responded, trying to be witty and only found herself feeling way more concerned. She blinked at the sudden personality change. Now she was worried. "Lilly, I seriously think that maybe you should cancel that date. Dwayne'll understand. He wouldn't want you to go when you're obviously miserable." The words barely left her mouth when April realized that she was pretty much saying she wanted a death wish.

"I am going to fail math, I am going to fail, fail, fail," Angel said, maybe more to himself, drawing a circle around the apple he drew. Apples were all he could think about lately. And considering his Halloween costume...that wasn't such a shock. He still couldn't believe what he'd bought. His halloween costume. What he was going to wear to the school carnival. What he couldn't take back. It was official, insanity was his middle name. Thank you Thomas Collins...? It was all because of him anyway. And Angel wouldn't change it. If this were a few months prior, he wouldn't even betalking to Angel and Lilly, much less planning on attending the carnival in drag. As Snow White.
"More than a headache. Like a head...explosion," Angel sighed, drawing a few swirlies.

"It's okay, Ang," Lilly grumbled, "because I'm going to fail life with this stupid stupid fever. And April, you're just being stupid. Like really stupid. Oh my God, I have an effing a hundred degree temperature and I'm not going home. I must be retarded." She whacked her head against the desk again, catching the sharp corner of her book. "Ow...damn."
"And head explosion? Sounds like fun," she added, reaching over Angel's shoulder to doodle some hearts in the corner of the paper.

April's eyes widened at Angel's statement on him and failing. "Now Angel, never say die! You're not going to fail, I'm sure of it. And even if you do...well...okay, I don't know what I could tell you if you did fail, but I can tell you that I could help you if you need it." There, that was a good way out of being insensitive. She'd tutor Angel if he wanted to. Besides, he was a nice guy and she wanted to get some of the weight off of his shoulders.
She winced at Angel's response to the headache question. "Head explosions. I've had those. They're not quite as fun as you might think Lill." Now it was time to avert Lilly's crisis. "Lilly, you can't fail life with a fever unless that fever kills you. No one's ever died from a hundred degree fever. A little bit more, then maybe. But that's not the point." She sighed, shaking her head. "Lilly, beating yourself up isn't going to help. Seriously, Dwayne. Will. Not. Mind. He would mind if you went on the date feeling this horrible."

Angel giggled at Lilly's hearts and drew some names in them. Roger, Dwayne, Tommy. "Thanks April. But honestly, this is my own fault," Angel admitted, turning the sheet back over and trying to do a problem. "I've been so hyped up lately about...everything. Tommy...the drag," he added especially quietly. Though come Halloween it wouldn't exactly be a secret anymore. "It's my own fault if I fail. I gotta learn to focus, spend at least five minutes on math," he frowned as he stared at his sheet, filling in an answer. That soon dissolved too though, and soon his paper was sideways and an eight was turning into a man with some really funky glasses.

Lilly laughed as well, albeit weakly. "I would too," she agreed. Somehow Angel's problems seemed worse than hers. "I can help you not fail. April could, too. And speaking of the...d-r-a-g, how is that going?" She turned around and glared at April. "You know, I might just take your way of doing things. Leave during French, cause I hate it."

April smiled when she saw Angel writing names in the hearts. That was actually pretty perfect. If it weren't already getting crowded, she'd join in. She knew that Angel and Lilly were just as crazy about their boyfriends as she was. Speaking of which, she still had some gauging to do. Dwayne was very easily read though, so chances were, it wouldn't take too long.
April nodded understandingly about Angel being distracted. "Yeah, I get it. A lot's been happening to you. Hey, at least that means you have a life too." She glanced down at her own sheet, which was already pretty much done. She liked math, really, but up to this point, she knew full well that she wasn't going to use it. At least not algebra. The value of x wasn't exactly a life skill that would be needed.
She then looked back at Angel, a frown curving on her face as Angel beat himself up for failing. She was glad when Lilly said that they both would help, because that gave her a chance to nod. She didn't say anything because Lilly had asked about the drag. She was quite curious on how that was going for Angel.

Angel giggled as Lilly spelled out the word. The sad thing was, that probably would fool some of the jocks. "It's going good, I've...kind of been doing it late at night now. I did some shopping, and after everybody else goes to bed...I do it. I'll have to show you guys sometime...maybe soon," he added. He knew he was being cryptic, but his costume was a surprise. He wasn't even telling Tommy....especially not telling Tommy. If his reaction to the drag the first time was any indication, they would have a very good time at Halloween. That was one thing he was quite looking forward to.
"But enough about me. What about you guys?" he asked, putting down his pen so he could concentrate on whoever the next speaker would be. He'd complained long enough about his own problems.

Lilly was still crossing her fingers that the teacher wouldn't show up anytime soon. She valued her free time; not to mention the time she spent gabbing with friends. "Oooh, shopping! You have to take me one day. At this point, you're probably better with makeup than I am....no offense, though, that's not saying much. Eyeliner and lipgloss are my limit, usually. "
Lilly shrugged and laughed when Angel changed the subject. He wasn't ever usually too keen on talking about himself, but that was okay with her. If he wanted to talk, he would. "Ah...just feelin sick. I'm going to leave during French, go home, take a nap and an Advil, and watch Jonas."

A grin grew on April's face as Angel gave them the verdict on how the drag was going. She could only imagine how Angel would look, but there was no doubt in her mind that he would look great. She nodded eagerly. "Yeah, I really want to see this. And remember, my offer to use some of my stuff is still up, if you're interested."
She laughed at Lilly's response when it came to the makeup thing. "Ah, don't worry Lill. That's basically my limit too." She seemed to be forgetting that April was the most tomboyish out of the three of them. Maybe it was the fever? It was pretty obvious. While April didn't dress like a slob, per say, she was hardly ashamed to go with jeans, a nice t shirt and sneakers.
April nodded when Lilly said she was going to leave during French. "Good, at least you leave sometime," she said, sounding unusually stern. Believe it or not, there was a bit of motherly instinct in April and she was using it quite a bit at the moment. She hated seeing people sick. It scared her for some weird reason that she couldn't really explain.
She then turned to Angel. "Nothing too huge coming up. Driving my cousin and a new friend of hers to go shopping, actually." A small smile curved on April's face. She had been so worried that Penny was going to become a recluse with all the stress that was going to pile up, all because her parents made her skip a grade. Yet there she was, making friends already. After all, April couldn't always be there for her, as much as she would have liked to be.

"I would love that. If you're absolutely sure it wouldn't be a problem," Angel nodded to April, visibly enthused by the idea. Clothes were a little harder to sneak home, he'd had a hell of a time trying to stuff the costume in his bag. All he'd been able to get were a few pieces, ones he could stuff in his knapsack. He didn't like taking from Anna either. It made him feel bad, plus she lacked alot of...brightness. Colour. He knew, she had some goth friends or something who'd probably eat her alive if she came to school wearing pink or baby blue. Angel had gotten some of her old stuff, but he as terrified she was going to realize they were missing. It was easier to just go shopping himself.
"I'm actually getting better with the eyeliner," Angel admitted with a bit of pride. Though he believed he deserved to be a little proud. It was no easy task those first couple times. "Can't count the number of times I poked myself. With mascara too, I just don't do well with the eye stuff. God help me if I ever need contacts," he shuddered at the thought. He wouldn't make it out alive. Still though, he couldn't help but think how nice it was. Just talking to April and Lilly about makeup, boys...like a regular person. A regular girl. And that's how they were treating him...and there was absolutely no judgement. He was beaming.
"Jonas...Caroline's brother? Or another Jonas?" Angel asked, thinking. He couldn't think of any other Jonases that he knew. Then again, that didn't mean there weren't any. "Oh, that's fun. The shopping," he added with a smile. He never liked shopping before, not clothes shopping anyway. But now...on his solo trips...needless to say he'd fallen quite in love. It was amazing how much more selection there was on the girl's side of the store. He could never really go back. Even then, in his generally harmless t-shirt and jeans, he felt beyond drab. He missed his skirts...he'd have to go double time later on. Maybe stay up till two instead of just one. Of course he'd probably completely miss first period, but that was just how it went. Math or drag? Did that even need to be asked.
"So...are you guys going to the halloween carnival?" Angel asked, remembering his costume. It's been on his mind alot lately. Not just because they were advertising the life out of it, either. Hopefully Lilly and April would both be there though. If they wanted to see him in drag...well, that would be their chance. Plus, he wanted to have as many friends there as possible, to combat the rude remarks he knew he was gonna get. Strength in numbers, right?

"Yeah...I would offer you my stuff too but I have a feeling it would be a little small. You know, given the fact that I'm about six inches shorter than you and flat all over." Lilly laughed, trying very hard not to throw in a snort with her giggle. It was a curse, really it was. She had an idea that borrowing clothes from his own sister must be hard- she had tried it with Cindy once and had ended up with her journal stolen. That had not gone over well at all, considering the clothes didn't fit and Cindy had information to torture Lilly with for the rest of her days.
Lilly grinned at Angel. Lucky him. He was that confident in himself that he could just...put it all out on the line. Tell people these things. She didn't even tell her journal (or her sketchbook, or a napkin, or whatever she was writing what she thought upon) her most personal secrets. Not even her pillow, or her best friend. Nobody. Just herself. That became a bit of a burden now and then. "Eww, contacts," Lilly agreed. "Luckily, I only wear glasses for reading. And I don't even usually do that, because I hate them and they make my face look funny."
"And yeah, Caroline's brother Jonas. Caroline went home with the chicken pox this morning. Sucks for her, really. I've had it already. Really itchy and stuff. Ugh," she shuddered, remembering her childhood incident with the chicken pox. Too many red spots to count and all over her body. She had to wear socks on her hands to keep herself from scratching her skin clean off in chunks. Ew. Looking down, she'd noticed she'd doodled a cartoon with the chicken pox and some heavy makeup into the corner of her math paper. She tore it out of her notebook and set it on the table to show April and Angel.
"Oooh, the carnival..." Lilly said, thinking about said carnival for the first time since she'd seen the banner. "Yeah, I think I'm going. My sister left behind her curlers and I saw something cute at the store a while ago...what do you think of a sort of old-fashioned looking bubblegum-pink sailor type dress? So sue me, I went to a costume store for fun." She laughed and leaned her elbows on the table. "You and Tommy Collins going? I know you would have already picked out a costume...knowing you, it's probably something fabulous."

April beamed when Angel said she'd love to take her up on her offer. This wasn't just a favor to Angel, she was willing to admit that. There were some things that were just too pink. She was certain that sooner or later, her room was going to spontaneously combust with all the pink. After all, if it weren't for the many posters from chick flicks, many people could easily mistake it for a guy's room. "I'm absolutely sure it's not a problem. Anything for a friend and to possibly rid myself of stuff I hate and you would love."
April couldn't help but laugh. "I'm proud of you Angel. You achieved what most girls can't do for years in so little time," she said truthfully. It took her ages to get the whole makeup thing right. If it hadn't been for her mother, she'd be totally lost. And possibly smudged around the eyes. She had to laugh when the subject came to contacts. "I've never needed any aid in seeing, but contacts just sound dangerous. It seems way too easy to just pop your eye out. At least glasses can't do that."
April beamed at the mention of the carnival. "Yep, I'm definitely going. Halloween gives me an excuse to look girly without people thinking I've lost my mind," she retorted. Ever year, she went as something that was as traditionally girly as she wasn't. This year it was going to be a romance novel/chick flick character. She just wasn't sure who.

"Well as long as I'll like them too," Angel added with a smirk. April's very gesture was incrediby sweet and very much appreciated. Though if they were as ugly as April seemed to think, he just hoped no feelings would get hurt. he had a good feeling though. And besides...beggers couldn't really be choosers. As long as they had some sort of colour, and didn't make him feel like a witch, they'd be fantastic. "Right, and I'm buxom," he nodded his head, pretending to look down his shirt. Well, that got him a few stares. But, while before those eyes might as well have been flashing neon, they just seemed to blend into the background. He could probably table dance at the moment and feel just fine. What a change. "Everything of Anna's, that's my sister, everything of Anna's is huge on me. Not that she's huge...she's just tall. Heck, in half my boy clothes I feel like I'm swimming," he admitted. His black t-shirt wasn't gigantic, but it had room to be taken in too. Some of his sweatshirts you would have thought belonged to a giant. Angel was pretty much a shrimp, for a boy anyway. It wasn't so noticable in his girl clothes. Just one more reason he preferred the drag.
"I'm pretty proud of myself," Angel admitted with a laugh. He remembered that night so clearly. It had been probably closer to two than it was to one-thirty at night. Only he was awake, holding a mirror infront of himself. His hands were shaky. His eyes, close to tearing. But after a good couple nights of effort, he'd done it. Nowhere near perfect, but there had been absolutely no poking involved. It was amazing, for a drummer and an artist his hands did not adapt to eyeliner too well. They still got shaky and unsteady. Sometimes he just didn't get himself, just like he was sure many others didn't get him either. "Me neither, I'm pretty sure I'm 20/20. Or at least close to it. My papi wears them, glasses I mean, and of course he's got like 30/20 vision in them," he added, and he looked down at his nails. He tried his hardest to get all the nailpolish off, but he was still scared to death he was gonna get detected. With a frown, he flicked a miniscule bit of red off his thumb. "Contacts just look like an accident waiting to happen."
Angel paused, envisioning it. Lilly's hair done up in curls maybe? And some bright colours on her face. Okay, time to stop doing drag at two am. It messes up your brain, he silently told himself, knowing full well that wasn't gonna happen. Couldn't happen. "I like it. Ooh, know what you should do? Get Wayne--Dwayne--to go as one of those guys from Grease, you know? Like the Elvis-y hair, the leather jackets? That would be a riot," he thought out loud, imagining it. A cute riot of course. "Yeah, I think we are. Tommy hasn't told me what he's going as yet though. Which is all fair and everything though, cause I;m not telling him my costume. Or anybosy else for that matter," he added. "It will definitely be fabulous though, it couldn't not be," he addded with a grin, hoping Lilly and Apil wouldn't ask. He wanted to keep it a secret, but...he was so exicted it might just pop out. He wasn't always the best secret-keeper when he was ecstatic. Not unless it was something really serious. "Nobody thinks you've lost your mind, I;m sure. I don't think I've ever seen you in girly clothes though..." he thought back. All of Angel's memories of April included April in jeans, or some other type of more boyish apparel. "Nope, can't say I have."
