Rob gaped at him and instantly felt butterflies as he smiled. Did this mean Josh would consider him a boyfriend?
"I don't have a boyfriend," he said

Josh smiled. He decided that he should get to know Rob a bit better. "That's too bad," he said. "I'm actually sort of in the middle of a breakup. It really sucks, especially since the whole reason its even happening was something neither of us had any control over," Josh told him. He sighed and walked a little further away from the building as he heard the bell ring. "Are you going to go to class?" he asked, not sure whether he wanted to go to class or not. He'd much rather do something else, but he knew that that probably wouldn't be the best idea.

"Really?" Rob said, probably sounding a bit too happy Josh had a break-up. He instantly mentally kicked himself. Oh, yay, sounding happy Josh was broken up with...that SURE would make him want to get to know him.
"That sucks," said Rob, "What happened?"
"Are you?" Rob asked. He would stay if Josh was staying.

"Its kind of complicated," Josh admitted. "Chris is sort of the jealous type. He's pretty pissed off at me for moving, even though I really didn't have a whole lot of choice in the matter. My parents pretty much told me they never wanted to see me again, and most of my friends couldn't talk their parents into letting me move in. It was either move in with my aunt or drop out of school and get a job to support myself. So I chose to move up here, away from Chris. First he wasn't talking to me, and then this morning he left a pretty nasty message on my voicemail. I'm sick of it. Sick of him."
Josh shrugged when Rob asked if he was going to class. "I should go. Not really in the mood, though. Senioritis kicking in early, I guess," he joked, smiling. He leaned against the wall of the school, glad they were in an area that didn't have any windows. "I don't know where anything is, honestly. Lils was supposed to show me around, but she sort of forgot about that. We ran into her boyfriend this morning right after we got to school and they disappeared pretty fast."

"Oh," said Rob. That wasn't really that fair, it wasn't like Josh decided to move. "Did you explain the situation to him?"
"I'm not really in the mood ethier," Rob admitted, "I just rather not face the wrath of Cathrine...I hear her wrath is all bark but no bit...but, still..."

Josh sighed. "I've tried. Not that I really should have to; Chris knows what my father is like. He was there when my father told me he never wanted to see me again," he replied. He shook his head. "Its like if everything isn't exactly the way he's planned it out, it isn't worth his time."
Josh smiled at Rob's comment about Cathrine. "Surely she can't be that bad... I mean, Lilia hates her, but she couldn't really be dangerous, could she?" he asked.

"Oh," said Rob, "That sucks." It REALLY did. He would've understood...he wouldn't be mad at Josh for something stupid like that, Josh seemed to nice to really be mad at anyway. He sighed..would Josh even feel the same way he was feeling now?
"Well," said Rob, "I don't really know her REALLY...but, I've seen enough I think...you should've seen the look on her face after that tray of food landed on her," he said.

Josh smiled. "Yeah, it really does suck," he replied. He couldn't help himself; the guy was cute, and really nice. They'd only just met, and already Josh felt like he could talk to Rob for hours on end.
"I guess I can imagine. She sounds pretty intense, from what I've heard from Lilia," Josh replied.

"Well," said Rob, "He probably wasn't good enough for you anyway." He blushed, realizing what just came out of his mouth. He spoke before thinking...he really needed to stop doing that.
"Ya," said Rob, hoping this would change the subject, "I heard she kinda had a little food fight with Lilly once...do you know her? I sat with her and her boyfriend today at lunch. She's pretty cool."

Josh raised an eyebrow, but didn't comment about Rob's remark. "So, what's a nice guy like you doing without a boyfriend?" he asked. He was pretty curious about that. The good guys were usually taken.
"Lilly... can't say that I recognize the name. Of course, its my first day and all, so I haven't really met a lot of people. Pretty much the only people I know are Lilia and Stevie."

"I don't know," said Rob, with a slight blush, "Most guys here like women it seems...not men..." and he didn't seem to attract the ones that did, he thought to himself and bit his lips.
"Oh," said Rob, "So, that explains why I haven't seen you around here."

Josh smiled. "You'd be surprised at how many guys are still in the closet during high school. I know some of the guys at my old school are. There are probably a few here. And they're usually the people you least expect," he replied.
Josh nodded. "Yeah. I'm from Virginia. I just moved here Friday."

"Ya," said Rob, with a nod, "I know...I was in the closet last year...then...I just, really didn't see the point in it, it's much better than for me to come out of the closet than having to worry about whose gonna find out."
"Virgina, hu? I hear that's a nice place," he said...he was being a liar right then and there...he had never heard about anything from Virgina, nor had he ever met anyone from Virgina. "How is it compared to here?"

"A lot of it is just about fear. Fear about what other people will think. I guess once you realize that some people aren't going to like you because of what you do in bed with guys and accept that, it doesn't seem like such a big deal," Josh said.
Josh shrugged when Rob asked about the differences between Scarsdale and Virginia. "It's quieter. And there aren't as many people where I'm from. More trees, a ton of deer running around everywhere, eating everything they can get to. It's peaceful."

"Right," said Rob with a nod, "You do have to learn to accept it...not matter how long it takes..." It did take him awhile to accept the fact he probably wasn't going to be accepted much in society. But, that didn't mean he had to be all moopy about it.
"Hmm..." said Rob, "Sounds nice...I always liked peace and quiet..." In yet, sadly, he was here and he didn't get too much peace and quiet.
