Caroline bit her lip as she listened to dead space instead of Angel's voice. And when he did gather the courage to speak up his voice was weak and unsure. She frowned wondering if this was the right way to go about it. Everyone was different...she couldn't expect for everyone to come out the same way. "Angel...why...why don't you talk to me about it? What are you afraid of?" She asked him gently. "Are you afraid of being hurt?"
"It's a good start," Caroline nodded. "It really is. And I'm glad that you are...I'm just still a little worried. You're not gonna back down are you?"

Angel paused. Was he that obvious? He appreciated the chance to talk, but he wasn't sure what to say. Everytime he thought about it, it felt stupid, weak. But he couldn't help it. He was afraid. He would've liked to have said that he didn't care what people thought, what they said, what his family did, but he did. With a sigh, he nodded a bit, before remembering she couldn't exactly see that.
"Well...it's just my...dad doesn't know. None of my family does. And I don't think they're gonna be okay with it," he sighed deeply, his eyes closing as he tried to figure it all out. Maybe his father didn't have to find out. Sure it was cowardly but he didn't see any other real way out. He loved his father. It would've been much easier if he could cut his family out of his life, but he didn't know if he could given the choice. And he was worried he wasn't going to be given a choice.
"In fact..a few people know I like guys but, you're the first person who knows that I...kind of like...I'm more...feminine," he stuttered, trying to get it all out. "And...that's the first time I've ever really told myself," he added quietly.
"No...no I'm going, I mean...I wouldn't just cancel on Tommy. That wouldn't be fair," he assured Caroline. The last thing he wanted was to push Tommy away. He was confused about alot of things, but not about that. "As long as he's there, and you're there, and Mimi's there...I'll get through Homecoming."

"Oh parents...I understand," Caroline said quietly, that was a major roadblock even for herself. But from the way that Angel was talking, she was pretty sure that Angel's father would be harder to deal with than her own mother. At least Mrs. Sweet passed out after enough drinks forgetting exactly who her daughter was attracted to. "It's hard...but...there are some pamphelts...at the GSA. You can talk to Mr. Newly about it. They're all different ways of coming out...and I'm sure that Tommy would be there to hold your hand. I would be too...if you'd want me to be. I know it isn't much but...I know. It isn't much."
Caroline leaned against the wall of the bathroom. "I'm glad that you've finally recognized that as a part of you, Angel. You might have to do more of that...self-reflection I think. It might help you out."
"Believe me, I'll be there," Caroline said nodding. "Even if Joanne dumps me for Julia Roberts or something, I'll be there for you. And then you can help me pick on Joanne but I doubt that'll happen," She attempted to joke. Although it was an important conversation, she didn't want Angel to have a heart attack because of it.

"No...it is," Angel assured her, a small smile slowly creeping onto his lips. It meant more than she probably knew. He was going to need all the support he could get. "Thank you. Yeah, I...I probably will. In a little bit. I'm just...glad I won't be totally alone."
"Hey, if she does, that just means we'll have to find you some other Oscar winning actress," Angel thought for a moment, thinking. "Gwyneth Paltrow? She's hot, right? I mean...you'd know better than I would," he couldn't fight the smile that came over his face. He remebered how he used to look at actresses, trying to convince himself to be attracted to them...and the thought that he wouldn't have to anymore was a weight off his shoulders.

Caroline smiled and nodded to herself. She was good. Angel was actively thinking about it and that's all that Caroline could ask for. "You're welcome, sweetie," She said quietly. "You're never gonna be alone in that arena Angel. You might have to look under the rug, but we're still there."
"An Oscar winning actress?" Caroline asked perking up at the mention of it. "Gwyneth is pretty awesome. But...I think I would rather someone shorter..." She giggled to herself, liking the idea of just being silly. "How about Rachel Weisz? I think I have a thing for dark hair...and well she was gorgeous in the Mummy. With those curls and running around in that outfit..." She paused and laughed outload. "Angel look what you did!"

"Thanks," Angel said quietly through a smile, tracing a pattern on his jeans. Only a few days before, the thought of coming out to someone...it made him want to crawl under a rock. Now he'd kissed a boy. How could things change so quickly? It was almost too fast, but...it wasn't. When he thought it was going too fast he'd slow down. He was oddly comfortable. He liked boys and he was okay with it, and he was okay with people knowing, for some reason. Okay...he knew the reason. He was going to Homecoming with it. Angel's smile only grew and he relaxed a bit.
"Oh yeah...she is pretty," Angel agreed, and could fight the small laugh that bubbled up. "Her dress was gorgeous," he added, picking a speck of dust off the jeans. Thinking about Oscar gowns suddenly made him feel extremely plain.

"You're very welcome, Angel," Caroline smiled to herself. "You know, if you ever need to talk about anything I'm here. Just for future reference...if I haven't made reference to that yet," She said wondering if she had but shrugged letting it go. Caroline never had the best memory in the world.
"Wasn't it?" Caroline asked slightly excited. "I mean with the jewelry and the hair...really really beautiful...I better stop gushing about her or soon I'm gonna go try and find her. I wouldn't wanna stand up Joanne. That wouldn't be a very good excuse. Sorry, Joanne, I'm in search of the lovely Rachel Weisz. I think she'd know I was a bit off by then."

"I know now...and I'm here for you, too. If you need it," though Angel doubted she would. Caroline always seemed so strong, like nothing could knock her down if it tried. But he was at least going to offer. If she ever needed it, he was there.
"You'd just have to bring her back Julia Roberts from your travels," Angel said, as though it was a very obvious conclusion. "Problem solved."

Caroline imagined scenrios...events when she would need to call Angel. There were times in which she couldn't stand her mother or the way she treated Jonas. But was that really something that she could share? If the word got out enough...maybe someone would declare Caroline's mother unfit. Then what would happen? Caroline and Jonas would be seperated...there was no way she was going to let that happen. "Thanks Angel. I'll remember that."
Caroline laughed and nodded. "Seems to make sense to me. How could she refuse?"

"She'd have to be crazy," Angel agreed with the shake of his head. He was grateful for conversation that was a little more light hearted. The less heavy the subject matter, the more he had to second guess himself. "I mean, of course, I'm pretty sure Julia's got babies now and everything, but...you know. Homecoming is way more important than an actual life."

Caroline gasped and covered her face. "I forgot about that whole thing. I think Rachel Weisz does too...hopefully their husbands wouldn't mind. I mean it's one night. Wouldn't do any harm," She giggled to herself.
"Do you have a celebrity that you have the hots for?" Caroline asked hoping to get giggly and silly with Angel. And really, the more he talked about it...the more comfortable he would be.

"I'm sure they'd love it," Angel laughed, crossing one leg over the other. At Caroline's question, he had to pause. It wasn't really something he'd actively thought about. "You know, I...I really don't know. I haven't really thought about it..." Angel stared at the ceiling as though a whole group of male actors were standing there. "I really have no idea. I'll have to find somebody," he grinned.

"Well you get working on that!" Caroline said pointing her finger and waving it around in the air. "I'm giving you homework. Watch as much television and as many movies as humanly possible! Then you must create a list of hunky men and we can compare...who knows maybe we'll find a movie with a hot girl and a hot guy. It could work out." She giggled and then frowned when she heard Mr. Curry banging on the door.
"There are girls out here that need to use the bathroom!" He called out.
"Oh...crap Angel I gotta go," Caroline whispered. "I'll see you tomorrow ok Angel?"

"Oh...okay," Angel nodded. He had to stifle a laugh as he, just barely, heard Mr Curry's voice. "I guess I'll see you in Still Life tomorrow," he agreed. "Bye!"

"Yep, bye Angel!" Caroline said waving to the phone as if he could see her. She hung up her phone and unlocked the door. "Um...I'm sorry," She said biting her lip. "You can...go pee now. Sorry for the holdup. I...really...a personal phone call...you know what I mean." Caroline ran away before Mr. Curry could burn her at the stake.
