Kyle felt (and probably looked) very confused. "You think you should blame me...but you don't feel that you need to blame me. Not making sense, Penny. Or at least to me." He checked his rather large digital watch, and then looked at the library clock. They seemed to be pretty synchronized. 4:30 PM, they both said.

"The story of my life. I never make sense" she responded simply, starting to smile weakly. "You may have to get used to it, but I'll attempt to make a little more sense. Fair enough?" She glanced up at the clock as well, frowning softly. If they didn't come soon, she was probably going to have to walk and then they'd probably scold her for not being patient.

"Fair. What are you late for now?" Kyle asked. She always seemed to be running late for something, and now was not an exception. She was either always late...or very impatient.

Penny snapped into attention."Oh, I'm not late for anything" she explained. "I'm just waiting for my ride, is all. They forget sometimes...unless they need to tell me to improve something, which is often. Apparently I'm being good this week. Go figure."

Kyle gave her that confused look again. "Penny? Penny, what are you saying?" It didn't make much sense to him. How could anyone be like that? Let alone two?

Penny frowned softly, crossing her arms. "Well...they're busy and I'm more trouble than I'm worth, so sometimes they conveniently forget these things." She glanced down. Now that she really had to explain it, it did sound kind of horrible. Now it was her turn to look a bit confused.

Kyle leaned his chin on his hand. "Penny," he repeated, more softly this time. "Penny, that's not fair. Do you- do you even hear yourself saying these things? Excuse me for, I don't know, barging in on your personal life, but really...that's not right. At all."

Penny frowned softly, hugging her knees slightly. "Well...I mean, again, I have expectations to uphold. They...oh who am I kidding?" She buried her head in her hands. She sighed softly before looking up at him, feeling rather tempted to start crying. She swallowed back the lump in her throat. "I don't mind Kyle..."

Kyle had little experience with crying women. Or girls. And it looked like Penny was going to cry. "I'm sorry if I- if I crossed a line, I'm sorry. Penny? Penny..." He sighed, leaning forward and resting his elbows on his knees.

Penny took a deep breath. "No, you didn't. It's not like I never heard anything like that before. At least you didn't say I was crazy to really believe what my parents say." She smiled weakly, glancing down, clasping her hands together. "It does sound sort of horrible, doesn't it?"

"It does, Penny, I'm sorry. And no, you're not crazy. I can see how that would affect you." Kyle looked up at Penny to study her again. "It isn't fair."

Penny smiled weakly toward him. "Thanks for caring" she whispered, keeping her legs off her chair. The librarian was probably going to yell if she got them dirty with the bottom of her shoes. She glanced down for a moment before glancing back up at the clock. "Well..."

"Do you have to go?" Kyle asked her, still leaning his arms on his knees. He found himself to be oddly intrigued with this conversation. Maybe it was just her that he was intrigued by. He laughed quietly. "Charm class calling your name?"

Penny scoffed a bit, glancing back toward him. She couldn't help but grin lightly. "Very funny. I just had to practice a bit for this recital I have tomorrow." She slowly thought on that. "But...you know what? I've been working my ass off for the past few days. I deserve a break, don't I?"

"Could still practice, if you really feel the need. Library's empty enough at a quarter to five." Kyle shrugged. "But if you need the break, go ahead and take it. I'd say you deserve one."
