Stevie pushed open the door to Smitty's smiling as the little bell tinkled. The girl behind the counter smiled warmly at her, and Stevie hoped over the counter.
"Ok, this is Smitty's." She said to Josh. "Here's an Application." She said ducking down and fishing one out. "And here's a sample of ice cream." She told him handing him a small sthingyful of one of the newer flavors. She tried another one making a horrible face.
"Oh wow, that's terrible, let's mark that one off the list."

Josh followed Stevie into the store and up to the counter, but chose not to jump over the counter. Instead, he sat down on one of the stools and glanced down at the application she'd placed in front of him. He tried the ice cream, making a face. "It tastes like dirty sweat socks," he said, smiling at her. He picked up a pen from the countertop and started filling out the application.

"Yes it really does." Stevie agreed. She made a few notes in a folder before sighing in disgust. She glanced over at Josh to see him working on the application.
Not wanting to bother him while he worked, she headed over to the counter to talk to the girl behind it. After a few moments the girl disappeared into the back, and Stevie got bored. She fiddled with the jukebox in the corner a few minutes before the sound of Journey began to blare across the room.
"That's not what I told you to play!" Stevie grouched.

Josh looked up from his application as Stevie began yelling at the jukebox. "Ya know, when you said it wouldn't be long before I saw you do something else embarrasing, I didn't think you meant this quickly," he joked. He glanced back down at the application, filling out the last section. "So, what were you trying to make it play, anyway?" he asked, standing up and walking over towards her.

"You think this is embarrassing?" She joked back "Oh your poor dear, run while you still can, it only gets worse." She thumped the jukebox and it began to switch.
"It's going to where I put it now." She said cheerfully. "It wasn't Journey I'll tell ya that." She shook her head and as her song came on, she proceeded to smile and hop up on the counter, humming along with it. Very few people knew what the music was but her, in fact the only reason it was in the jukebox was because Stevie begged.

"Well, it could always be more embarassing," he replied. He listened to the music as it switched. "Well, its obviously not Journey. But what is it?" he asked. "It sounds a little familiar, but I'm really not sure."

"This my dear Josh, is Rockapella. They are an acapella group." She said swinging her legs. "Their probably best know for singing the theme for Gummi Bears and Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego. They did the Folgers Coffee Jingle a few years back, that's what people seem to remember them for, but they sing actual songs." She shook her head. Anticipating a odd remark about her taste in music, she continued with,
"And before you say anything, shut up, their awesome!"

"Acapella?" he asked, smirking. It was pretty funny, he had to admit. "Hey, I wasn't going to say anything. But now that you mention it, that is pretty... interesting. As far as music goes. Although I guess I can't say anything, since my favorite singer used to be in a boy band." He shrugged. "Though you would never know that from his music."

"It's good music. People would know this if they bothered to listen to the voices and not just shake their head about it." she gripped good naturally, though somewhat pointedly. She shook her head "It's better than freakin' Journey." When Josh said he couldn't talk his favorite singer was in a boy band, she snickered.
"For shame!" Stevie gasped in mock horror. "A boy band." She shook her head. "That's it, your the devil, get outta my store right now." She teased.

"Did I ever say that I liked Journey?" Josh asked, smiling at her. "They're okay, I guess. Just not my thing. Then again, I'm used to either show tunes or a guy who smokes too much with a guitar."
"He used to be in a boy band. He isn't any more. Besides the fact that he's gay. And British. And pretty damn hot," Josh replied. He smiled.

"No, but practically everyone likes Journey, and I'm not one of them. I had a friend who listened to nothing but Journey. We went on a trip for Spring break one year, and that's all we listened to in her car! it was traumatizing!"
"He was still in the evil boy band." Stevie replied with a laugh. "That brands him I'm afraid." She shook her head with a laugh. "I like Rockapella, I don't care what anyone else says. I'm not alone, there's others out there." She shrugged.
"To each there own. I can't do anything if you prefer boy bands." She teased.

"That sounds pretty traumatizing," Josh replied. "I've never understood what people saw in Journey. The only song I ever liked was Heaven."
"Yeah, well, we'll see if you're still saying that after you hear Middle of Your Ashtray," Josh replied. "Or Thin Air. It isn't like anything you would ever hear from a boy band."

"Alas, Journey is popular, for reasons unbeknown to me." she shook her head sadly as if some great injustice was being done to the world.
"I've heard Middle of your Ashtray." She replied smirking at him. "Your right, that's a good one. Yet, it does not take away the fact he was in a boy band." She laughed. "Embrace his boy bandedness... only then can you truly love him." She giggled.
"Cause trust me, Rockapella gets crap for doing commercials too. I embrace, I still love." She teased him.

Josh couldn't help but laugh at Stevie. "I would rather not embrace the boy band. It was back in the days of bad hair and even worse dance moves. In fact, it sort of scares me," Josh replied, faking a shudder.
"Commercials aren't so bad. It could always get worse. Like bad 70s porn," Josh joked.

"Bad hair." Stevie laughed. "that's still going around like a a virus. Never sure when it's going to strike next." She stretched, trying to work the kink out of her back. The muscle knotted and she grit her teeth before shaking her head.
"Yes I don't suppose anything would be worse than 70s porn."
