Dwayne nodded in agreement. Who would have thought he'd run into her? He was actually glad he did; now he could possibly get a whole other side to this. He usually overlooked that possibility unless it was thrown in his face. If he wanted any success in journalism, that was going to have to change. Maybe she'd help him practice that without even knowing it.
"No, absolutely not. Caroline was confused, but she didn't blame you in the slightest. She was basically mad at herself," Dwayne responded, hoping that he was some source of comfort and if not, at least she'd appreciate his honesty.

"Okay...and as long as she doesn't stay mad at herself, I'll be happy." she answered, smiling. I'll just...get over it.
She picked her camera up again, taking a few quick pictures of two children playing with a dog. Now she wasn't sure of what to talk about. The fact that Dwayne knew Caroline made it awkward for her. Really, just ng about Caroline was awkward for her. She had never felt this strongly for a girl before.

As Brittani talked, Dwayne managed to catch a photo of an airborne skateboarder. He snapped it just seconds before the person landed. Smiling slightly with pride, he answered, "Then be happy. She seems to be back with the entirety of her self confidence."
Then something occurred to Dwayne. Brittani didn't seem at all aware of how Caroline was. He would have thought that Caroline would still talk to her, if things were going back to normal. He glanced toward Brittani with curiosity. "Have you talked to her lately?"

"Good...That's good." said Brittani, smiling to herself.
"No, I haven't been able to." she answered. But I will. Can't help but miss that sense of humor. she thought. She hoped that Caroline wouldn't feel awkward around her. Even on the phone she seemed awkward.

"Yeah it is...although I hope you guys will be able to talk, at the very least," he responded, biting his lip. He had a funny feeling that Caroline would have been avoiding Brittani. Of course, that was hardly fair. You would think that since everything got cleared up, so would the chances of Caroline and Brittani being friends.

Brittani thought a moment, "Oh, so...I guess things worked out with what's-her-name?" she asked. So that's why she hasn't talked to me. This would even make talking to Caroline awkward. Hopefully this other girl wasn't the jealous type, because Brittani had never had the best self-control. If Caroline can still be Caroline around her, then Brittani would still act the same, too. But I'm no girlfriend stealer.

Dwayne could tell that this could quite possibly wind up being a reenactment of some soap opera scene. With that knowledge, he attempted to be gentle about this. "Well...yeah, it did. Or at least Caroline told me it did and she tends to tell me the truth." He frowned softly. "I'm really sorry."

"Ah, It's fine. I just met her like...2 days ago. It's not my place to butt in. I'm glad for her." said Brittani, smiling. I'll be okay. she thought.
So, as of right now, her chances were zero. Great, just great. But she wasn't going to break down in front of a stranger; friend of Caroline's or not. Today would still be good.

Dwayne smiled weakly and did his best to hold his tongue on his own opinion on the effect two days can have on a person. He was sort of living proof of that after meeting Lilly. His smile broadened as he thought for a moment. Their first real date was coming up and it was going to happen right in that spot. "Look...I can talk to her if you like. You know...encourage her to at least try to stay friends with you?" he offered after snapping out of his daze.

She smiled at him, "Oh, trust me...she's not getting rid of this girl that easily." she laughed. I need to meet this girlfriend. she thought. She fully intended on making a fabulous first impression on this other girl. She'd already be - or most likely be - upset about Brittani liking her girlfriend. At least she might not hate her as a person.

Dwayne chuckled at her response. He was glad she wasn't one of those people who would mope around over something like this. It was hard, but life went on. "Glad to hear it. Persistence always has it's own rewards, so it's good you have it." He could definitely see why Caroline got along with this girl. He always knew his best friend was good with choosing her friends.

"Yes, exactly. Sitting around crying over something like this isn't worth my time. Not saying that Caroline isn't great or anything, cause she is, but like they say...life goes on." she said, smiling, "Now, why don't we finish this little walk?" she finsihed, holding her camera up slightly.
Hopefully this'll get me over it fast. I hate moping. she thought. She turned and looked around the park. Any direction looked promising, she wasn't sure which to choose. Wait for Dwayne it is.

Dwayne smiled. He agreed on all points, although something told him that Brittani thought Caroline was great in a completely different way. Just a hunch, really. Pulling himself up, he followed her lead, glancing around. Let's see...which way to go...

Seeing as Dwayne wasn't sure either, she spoke up, "Hmm, photographer's intuition says...left." she stated, "That work?" she asked, turning to him. 'Photographer's intuition'. she thought, laughing at herself. It sounded better than saying she just choose a random direction. She looked towards the left; it looked promising enough.

Dwayne chuckled at her suggestion. Photographer's intuition...I like that. It was certainly something you didn't hear everyday and it was kind of clever. "Luckily for you, so does mine, so it definitely works." With that, he began heading off to that direction.
