Eric led Lilia into the hospital and sat her in a chair in the waiting room. He gave her a small smile before moving to the counter to try to check her in. He wasn't really sure how things worked here - he'd been lucky enough to never need to come here.
"Can I help you?" Asked the silver-haired woman sitting behind the counter.
"Uh, yeah. My friend," Eric began, gesturing back toward Lilia, "She, uh, someone hit her and I think she might have broken something." He wasn't sure how much detail to go into with this lady, and decided to leave most of that to Lilia.
The woman looked at Eric a bit strangely before answering. "She'll have to come over here and give me some information," she said gruffly.
Eric moved to where Lilia sat and held out a hand. "You need to talk to that lady over there, okay?"

Lilia let Eric lead her inside. When he walked away, she looked around anxiously. She hated hospitals; she'd been there entirely too often when she was younger. Doctors still scared her. When Eric came back, she looked up. She took his hand and followed him back to the woman at the counter in silence. She was almost afraid that her voice wasn't going to work.
Lilia answered the woman's questions as quickly as she could; she wanted to be out of there as quickly as possible. The woman finally stopped asking questions and sent the two of them back to wait some more. After they sat down, Lilia laid her head on Eric's shoulder and closed her eyes.

Sitting down next to Lilia, he was a bit surprised to feel her lay her head on her shoulder. But happy. It gave him a warm, contented feeling inside, something he'd never felt before. He shifted in his seat a little so he could place his arm around her, holding her close. He didn't know what to say to her, couldn't think of anything that would help, so he just sat in silence, fingertips running over her arm as he held her.
It seemed like forever before a doctor came and called Lilia's name. Eric gently shook Lilia, thinking she may have fallen asleep. "Sweetie?" He asked, not meaning for the endearment to slip out. He tried again, "Lilia? The doctor's here. It's time for you to go. Do you want me to wait here?"

Sitting there with Eric's arm around her was the first time Lilia had truly felt safe since this whole thing had started. She was still scared of actually seeing the doctor, but at least she didn't have to worry about Roland showing up and dragging her out of there with no one to protect her.
When the doctor arrived, Lilia looked up and sighed. "Come with me, please," she whispered, grabbing Eric's hand. She didn't want to be alone. Not yet, at least. The two followed the doctor back into one of the exam rooms, where they were once again told to wait.

Eric nodded at Lilia, taking her hand in his and following the doctor to the exam room. He looked around the cramped space and smirked. "This is my favourite part of seeing doctors," he said sarcastically, "The waiting. Isn't this exciting, Lilia?" He asked, teasingly, trying to lighten the mood a bit.
After a few minutes, Eric suggested Lilia lay down. She looked exhausted and he wondered if she had slept well the night before. Eric knew he hadn't. Every sound had caused him to jump, thinking Roland was there. He knew intellectually that Roland would have no clue where Lilia was, but it hadn't stopped him from worrying.

Lilia smiled at Eric's attempt at a joke. She really wasn't in the mood for joking. She hadn't said much of anything since they had decided to come to the hospital, and she hoped that Eric would understand that it was just that she was afraid. She'd been in these places far too many times already for someone who couldn't even drive yet.
Lilia didn't know if she really should lay down or not. She was exhausted, yet at the same time she knew that as soon as she started to fall asleep the doctor would come in and she would have to wake up and answer his questions.

Eric sighed. He really hated this place. He could tell that Lilia did, too. He wished they could just leave, but there was no way he was going to let Lilia out of here until the doctor said she was okay.
Eric moved to sit beside Lilia on the exam table, wrapping his arm around her once again. "How are you feeling?" he asked, lamely, "Does it still hurt just as much?" He felt like an idiot for asking such a stupid question, but he was nervous and needed to talk, and that was what came out.

Lilia laid her head down on Eric's shoulder again as he wrapped his arms around her. "I'll be okay, Eric. Don't worry so much, okay?" She sighed. "This isn't exactly the first time I've had to do this, remember?" She closed her eyes for a moment. "I'm just ready for this to be over with. This is the worst part. The waiting."

Eric cringed at the thought she'd been in the hospital counless times before. She didn't deserve to be treated like that. She deserved the world. He was shaken out of his thoughts when the doctor came into the room. He didn't let go of Lilia, just looked at him expectantly.
The doctor looked at the teens before him before addressing the young girl. "Miss Moore?" he asked. "I understand you hurt your cheek. Can you tell me what happened?"
Eric sighed at the question. Lilia had already explained this so many times. Couldn't the doctor just read the damned paper? He squeezed Lilia's shoulder reassuringly, knowing she wouldn't want to go through this again, trying to offer some encouragement.

"My mom's fiancee was at our house last night when I got home. I'd been gone for most of the day, because a friend had been showing me around town... Roland was so mad at me for not being there all day. He kept asking where I'd been, and he didn't give me time to answer. Finally he just punched me because I didn't answer," Lilia said. She felt the tears stinging her eyes, knowing that she was going to have to repeat her story several more times. She wished that it could just be over already.

Eric quickly reached up to wipe the tears from Lilia's eyes, being careful not to brush her injured cheek. He smiled at her. He was so proud of her for being so strong. He didn't know what he would do if he was in the same situation.
The doctor listened as Lilia spoke, nodding and making notes on his clipboard. When she was finished he turned to Eric. "I'm going to ask you to move so I can take a look."
Eric stood up, placing a quick kiss on Lilia's forehead, and moved to stand at the other end of the tiny room, arms crossed, watching worriedly.
"Miss Moore, I'm going to take a look at your face now. I will probably need to send you for x-rays, so we can make sure that nothing is broken." He began looking closely at the mark on Lilia's face, touching it gently, making more notes on his clipboard.

Lilia winced every time the doctor's hand brushed the spot. It still hurt a lot more than Lilia was willing to admit. She didn't want to scare Eric. Finally he was done, and they had to wait on someone to take her to have X-rays done.

Eric went back sit by Lilia once the doctor had left. He held her in his arms, not saying anything, just holding her. He hoped like hell that nothing was broken, that it was just a bruise and it would heal quickly. After what seemed like hours, but was probably only a few minutes, the x-ray technician came in and took Lilia. Eric wanted desperately to go with her, to protect her from anything bad, but he knew he couldn't. All he could do was wait.

Lilia laid her head back down on Eric's shoulder. When the x-ray technician came, she followed the woman and left Eric to wait on her. She really wanted Eric to go with her, but she knew that he really couldn't.
She forced herself to be patient as the woman did her job, but she really didn't want to be there. Finally, they were done. The woman took Lilia back to where Eric was waiting for her.

Eric opened his arms to Lilia as she came back into the room, a huge smile on his face. "How did it go?" he asked her, "Did they tell you what's wrong?" He held his breath, wanting her to tell him that nothing was broken. He didn't realize that x-ray results aren't immediate.
