Penny chuckled. "That's the way it used to be...that was before I realized that my mother fires a new maid at least once a week. So I wind up doing it myself, because my parents like having it done a certain way and I'm the only one who doesn't need to learn. However, it's still not good enough." She rolled her eyes.

Kyle rolled his eyes. "No offense, but your parents suck. As much as my parents piss me off sometimes, they're not that bad. Mom yells obscenities once and awhile and drops things, and my dad is OCD about chewing gum, but all the same, I love my parents."

Penny smiled weakly, glancing down. "Yeah, I guess they do. And it's really sad that I never realized it before you actually let me know." She sighed, crossing her legs. "I thanked you for that, right? Sometimes I forget."

"No, no, you thanked me. I'm just not sure it's something to be thanked for." Kyle leaned back into his seat. "I'm not even sure if it's entirely a good thing."

Penny smiled weakly. Poor guy was probably thinking he was leading her to her demise or something. "At least I'm not completely beating myself up" she pointed out. "Really, you did a good thing snapping me out of it."

"Okay, well...If that's how it's going to go...okay." Kyle nodded. "All right. As long as I'm not causing you any harm."

"Trust me, you're not" Penny responded, a wide smile on her face. Somehow, it was hard to imagine him causing her harm in anyway. Perhaps it was being too trusting, but it just felt that way. "Anyway, it's not like I'm going to do anything drastic. Don't worry."

"Do you promise?" Kyle asked, looking at her apprehensively. "Would you shake on it if I made you? 'Cause I think I'm a little worried."

"Of course" Penny insisted, smiling widely in his direction. The poor guy was so worried about her. It was sort of touching. "And if I even get tempted to do something drastic, I'll hunt you down to knock some sense into me" she added, laughing a bit at her own comment.

"Oh, okay. I'll be sure to knock you around a little bit if needed. But only if needed, I'm sure." Kyle smirked, lifting a foot up to rest on the stage. He laughed a little as well.

"There we go. No need to worry about little old me" Penny assured him, leaning back slightly. "I'm a big girl, remember that. Just because I'm still thirteen doesn't make me any less mature or clearminded."

"Yeah, but you just used the phrase 'big girl' which automatically knocks you down a few pegs. Sorry, Penny, but it's the cold, hard truth. When you say that it just sounds like you're on....I don't know, a Huggies commercial or something." Kyle shrugged. "I wasn't going to hold your age against you, you know. I told you that already."

Penny rolled her eyes good naturedly. "I realize that, don't worry. It was just the only phrase I could think of at the moment." She shrugged. "Yeah, I remember you said that. I just need to grasp that concept, I suppose. Besides, you're talking like you think I'm stupid enough to...I don't know...jump off a cliff or something."

Kyle appeared quite taken aback at this particular comment. "Oh, really? Now why do you suppose I might think that, hm? I haven't said, 'Oh, you look stupid enough to jump off a cliff,' have I?"

Penny scoffed a bit, smiling weakly. "No...but you just seemed so worried about me. It's really touching, but well...you just seemed to think I was going to do something reckless. Even if I wanted to, chances are the idea of my parents being disappointed in me, yet again, would stop me. Sad, but true."
