"Don't beat yourself up," Caroline said as if it was a silly concept. "That's everyone elses job. The 'Man's' job. You just gotta keep fighting back. At least that's what I think. And don't you worry about Lilly. If she went through something similiar, then I bet seeing that you do too did make her feel like she wasn't so alone. That you two had one more thing in common," She pointed out.

Dwayne smiled a bit at Caroline's words. "Hmm...yeah, I guess I see your point. And I don't exactly object to things that Lilly and I have in common, even if they are slightly painful." He shrugged a bit. "Anyway, my parents seem to be keeping their mouths shut. If they are fighting, they're not letting me see it."
The words barely left his mouth when something occured to him. His parents seemed to be very tense around each other, even when they weren't fighting. He usually brushed it off. But what if that was a sign that they were fighting a lot more than he ever thought, but out of his earshot. He suddenly felt a little sick at the thought of his parents hiding something like that from him. They couldn't be having problems, right? After all, occassional disagreements were understandable. Up until now, that was what Dwayne thought the situation was.
If they were having problems and were fighting behind closed doors, Dwayne was probably going to start beating himself up again. He of all people should have realized sooner. The guy who noticed every little detail couldn't even tell his parents might be on the brink of separation?
Dwayne, get a hold of yourself! It's not the time to be jumping to conclusions... Still, he had to voice his thoughts right then and there. Hopefully Caroline didn't mind that he was complaining. "Hey...you don't think my parents would hide that they're fighting from me, do you? I mean...act like everything's all fine and dandy even though they just had a fight while I was out of earshot and wait until they explode?" His words were just spilling out to the point where they probably wouldn't be understood, but he needed to get this out.

Caroline nodded slowly watching him with a concerned eye. "True. But sometimes, those hard things can be even more...binding, I guess," She said quietly not sure if her words really mattered here. It was about Dwayne, and she knew that. But she had to egg him on somehow. Then as he got quiet, she felt herself start to worry about him. She knew him. She knew that he probably saw things that most people skip over. Caroline could only hope that he realized that sometimes little things were just that...little things.
When Dwayne asked her his question, Caroline bit her lip and frowned. That wasn't a good sign at all. "Well...when my parents...you know. Started having issues...it was like that. They would fight when I wasn't in the room. But then it got to the point where it didn't matter where I was. They would fight...." She took a deep breath hoping that she didn't worry him. "Having said that, everyone's parents are different. Mine, yours, Lilly's, Joanne's. But they all do fight sometimes. So maybe it's just that. Maybe it's not. Either way," She started to say quietly, "You'll survive. I know it's not much but...you will. I'll personally see to it. I'm sure Lilly would be glad to help in that arena as well."

Dwayne sighed a bit when he noticed the look on Caroline's face. She always knew when something bugged him. His silence spoke volumes to that girl. Thankfully, her words were certainly a source of comfort. "Yeah, I guess you're right. I just hope I'm wrong. You know I hate it when my parents walk on eggshells for me. It's not only dishonest, it's condescending." He sighed again and this time smiled. "But I appreciate your help. And if Lilly helps, it'll be even better. You're right that I'll survive."

Caroline smiled at him gently. Then she leaned up and kissed his cheek. "You will. I'll see to it. I like you around and pretty damn happy in life." She poked him and giggled. "C'mon...whatever your name is in the show. Sing me a song that you sing...unless you don't sing a song. Do you?" Caroline didn't know the play very well.

Dwayne grinned. He was feeling slightly better about his parental situation. With Caroline and Lilly to help, he was golden. He chuckled a bit at her request. "Fyedka doesn't really have a song." He shrugged. "Probably better that way. I'm not much of a singer."

"You don't have a song?" Caroline asked with a frown. "Well, what fun is that? I wanted to torture you with your song. But fine," She sighed. "Maybe we could bump off one of the other actors," She winked at him. "And you do sing wonderfully. Remember that day that you sang the rubber ducky song for me. It remains the highlight of my life."

Dwayne rolled his eyes good naturedly. "No, we're not going to bump off one of the other actors Caroline. And thank you oh so much for reminding me. Remember, I was doing that because you begged. I wouldn't have if you hadn't begged and you weren't my friend." He chuckled a bit. The truth was, that was a funny moment. He definitely didn't mind all that much.

"Oh all right then," Caroline said snaping her fingers. "You really are no fun," She winked at him. "I do remember the whole experience very well. Very well." Her grin deepened, "And I'm still so appreciative of it. I will love you forever because of it. But I still believe that you could sing it again with just as much of conviction as you did before hand. I'm sure Lilly would love to be serenaded."

"Yep, that's me. I'm no fun because I'd rather keep the rest of the actors alive," he retorted, winking back. He grinned at how she said she'd love him forever for singing that. "I appreciate that. It's good to know that I get an eternal friendship out of it." He thought for a minute. Serenading Lilly, huh? He probably wasn't half as good as her when it came to singing, but it was an idea. "Maybe. She's a pretty good singer herself, actually. She didn't know I was listening the first time, but still...wow."

Caroline snickered and then shrugged. "Some drama in the theatre. That kinda works for me." She giggled to herself. "Easily. Eternal...times...eternal. Isn't that like...a negative or something though?" Caroline asked knowing that math was her worst subject by far. "Is she? She's playing your girlfriend isn't she? So does she get to sing a bit? Maybe the two of you could make up a romance song on the spot."

Dwayne chuckled. "I'm actually not sure. Would eternal times eternal be negative? I don't think you can mix vocabulary and math. And yeah, she's playing my girlfriend." He grinned at the thought. "And she sings in it. Very well, I might add." He raised an eyebrow at Caroline's suggestion. "Hmm...you know what, that'd be interesting. Wonder if we're allowed to do that..." He scoffed a bit. "Oh well, either way, this'll be fun."

Caroline thought about that for a moment and then she waved her hands in the air. "That's it, no more of that type of talk. It makes my head hurt." She dropped her hands into her lap. Caroline smirked, "I'm sure she does. But does she sing the rubber ducky song I ask you?" Then she winked at her friend, "I'm going to see to it."

Dwayne chuckled. "Okay, okay, we won't talk like that anymore. Last thing I want is for you to get a headache." He then chuckled. "How did I know you'd say that? Oh yeah; years of experience. Anyway, you'd have to catch Lilly in the right mood. Just don't embarrass her, deal?"
He glanced toward the clock. "Uh oh. Looks like I have rehearsal." He smiled apologetically toward Caroline. "Anyway, lovely talking to you as always. See you later?"

Caroline nodded with a smirk. "I know I can be a handful at times. Not gonna tell you any different," She winked at him. Then she tapped her chin as if she was giving serious thought on whether she should embaress Lilly or not. "Silly you. I won't. I'm not that mean. Anyway, you really seem to like her, so I have to too," She pointed out. Despite her teasing, she did want the best for Dwayne.
"Of course, see ya!" Caroline waved realizing she had her own rehearsal to go to. She cursed under her mouth and headed towards the pit.
