"I can't tell him, though. If he didn't...if he didn't love me back, that could kill me. Literally." Lilly shook her head, thinking about that. "God, it just hurts to think about...and he doesn't have a good record for that..." She winced, looking as if something hit her.

April winced a bit. "Yeah, I can understand that." She bit her lip. "How about I try to gauge how he feels about you? I mean, we're friends again. I can definitely do it." And you'd better be able to trust me Cohen, or I won't be pleased with you, she thought.

"Yes! You do that. Gauge it. Or you can ask him. You guys are friends, he'd tell you. Right? Oh, would you do that for me? Or if you can gauge it right now, let's do it right now." Lilly sat up again, a little too quickly. "Ow," she said to nobody in particular.

April laughed a bit at Lilly's enthusiasm. "Of course I will. That's what friends are for, aren't they?" She shrugged a bit. "Anyway...he hardly stops talking about you, which is always a good sign. His face practically lights up whenever he mentions you....hmm, might have to gather more clues, but the test seems to be coming out positive so far."

"Oooh, this is exciting. What other clues will you have to get? I'm just curious." Lilly could now longer picture going back to her dancing, at least today. This was too exciting.

April laughed a bit. "It is, isn't it?" The seed was planted and now April had to help it grow. "Anyway...I'm not entirely sure as of yet. Somehow, I don't think love's entirely like how they show it in the movies. But I'll know it when I see it, believe me."

"Okay. So...little things? I'll be on the lookout, to. If infact he is, he's probably dropped me a million hints because I'm too blind and stupid to recognize them. But I'll be watching now!" Lilly smiled, trying to remember the last week and a half. What hints had he tried to drop, if any?

"Basically yeah." April clapped her hands a bit. She thought for a minute. "You know what? I think I may have tried out for the wrong part." She shrugged. "Eh, Pen'll be better at that anyways."

Lilly laughed. "We could play a game of switch-around. Penny could do my part, I could do yours, and you could do Penny's. Actually, I don't want her getting all close with Dwayne. That's my job. So nevermind."

April winced and shuddered. "No way. That'll screw this up." She laughed a bit. "Although Penny would never try to. She already knows about you two. Anyway, she loves her role anyway." She then frowned. "Although as it always goes, anothe performance, another parental disappointment. God I hate my aunt and uncle."

"Ehh. They sound like no fun. I mean really. My dad can be...well, a pain sometimes, but they sound just as bad. In a different way, of course. Is it bad that Dwayne hasn't met my parents? Can I keep him a secret? Could I get away with that?"

"Oh you have no idea..." April muttered, shaking her head. No need to think about that. She frowned a bit. "Well...not completely sad. Although I don't think you'll be able to keep him a secret forever. Parents always figure it out eventually and it never ends well."

"Have you done the same thing? It sounds like it. How should I tell my mom? I don't know how she'd take it. I wouldn't tell my dad. I just wouldn't. But then again, that would end worse if he found out..." Lilly shook her head. "Ew."

"Lilly, most girls tried to keep Dwayne a secret. They're sure that their fathers will assume the worst." She winced at the mental image of the result of Mr. Cohen finding out on his own. "No, that'll be horrible."

"Yeah. But how would I tell him? Mark's already bad enough, my dad will just be worse! Mom might be understanding. But she'd do the whole 'if you're gonna do stuff, do it in the house.' Whatever. Cross fingers." I love him.
