"Ah more like I usually have so much to do by the time I get home it's just about time to go to bed." Deciding on another half sandwich, she went about making one. She shrugged a little bit. "Remember when I told you about all the clubs and such I was in? Tends to chew up some of my time." She told her with a mild smile. When Caroline said she didn't know how to burp her abc's Joanne smiled.
"Well that's good. That would have been beyond gross."

"Wow really?" Caroline asked with wide eyes. "You must be in a whole lot of clubs. I kinda wish I had more time to go to clubs. I get the chance maybe once a month. I guess I should be thankful for that." She shrugged and then asked quietly, "What other clubs are you in? I remember you said debate club....what else? Oh GSA...I should have known that one."
Caroline nodded. "That it would be..." She paused for a moment wondering when she would tell her. If she could tell her.

"Eh, Just to many really." Joanne said shaking her head. "I'm in Current Events Gay-Straight Alliance, Debate Team, Key Club, Student Council, Future Business Leaders, and Speech Club." She said shaking her head. She frowned, leaning forward to touch Caroline's hand.
"Are you sure your ok?" She asked.

Caroline blinked at the mention of every club. That was a whole lot of clubs. No wonder Joanne had no real time to herself. "Why are you in those many clubs? Because you want to? Or it is for college recommendations or something?" She asked wondering if Joanne realized how much torture she put herself through.
Caroline looked down at their hands and nodded slowly. "Yeah...I just...I have to talk to you for a minute."

"I'm not really sure why I'm in so many. Probably some on choice, some on college recommendations. My parents flip out over stupid stuff like that. All A's, be in so many clubs. It's a miracle, I don't have to play sports, because between you and me, I'm not graceful." She said with a wink and a laugh. When Caroline nodded and looked away Joanne frowned.
"Ok, so lets have it." Joanne said honestly.

"All A's?" Caroline asked her eyes wide. It wasn't that it was a completly foreign concept...just out there. Caroline's grades weren't horrible, she'd get into a state school. And that's all she wanted really. But all A's, that was something Caroline never experienced. Even in elementary school. "That's pretty impressive." She giggled to herself and nodded. "It's ok...I'm not big on the sports either."
"Um...I know we aren't...serious or anything...but...I kinda flirted with another girl," Caroline said her face turning bright red, "And believe me, nothing good came of it. I just wanted to be frank with you...and it'll never happen again. Not that we're in a really serious thing...although I'm not quite sure what we...are." They hadn't even kissed after all. Caroline looked into her lap. "I'm sorry. Especially after this great meal..."

"Oh, it's not so great, just lots of study time. And sports are vastly overrated sometimes. I figure if you do well in school your more deserving of a scholarship than someone who can throw a football or hit a ball with a stick, you know?" She listened as Caroline spilled her guts. What were they? If Joanne was completely honest with herself she would say they were currently limboing between to close friends and a couple. When Caroline apologized, Joanne reached across the table and squeezed her hand.
"Is that all?" She asked gently. "You only flirted with her. That's no crime. And as for what we are? It depends on what you want us to be really." She told her gently. There was chance Caroline would want to be with this other girl.

Caroline giggled at Joanne's explinations. "Well when you put it that way. I think it makes sense. Brain power is better than hitting a ball with a stick. But that was always something that I could do. One of the few athletic things. Too bad that I couldn't catch to save my life. Still can't. It's like I have greese on my hands or something...not that I do..." She winked her at her.
"All?" Caroline asked shocked that Joanne wasn't upset. But she quickly regathered herself. "Thanks...thank you for not going crazy. I realized later that I have...I really don't even know the girl. And I was just...I didn't like the feeling. Of just flirting for the sake of flirting you know?" She watched Joanne in wonder. She was letting her choose. "I...I don't know. I would like to be...girlfriends. I would. But I don't want to push...even though your food is awesome." Caroline added with a small grin.

Joanne smiled patiently, when Caroline said she could play baseball, but couldn't catch or anything. "I can't play at all." She said with a shrug.
"You thought I was gonna flip over it?" She asked when Caroline echoed all. When she went on to say she didn't like the feeling of flirting just to flirt, Joanne nodded. She was glad that Caroline had told her that. If she hadn't, she would have been worried.
A relieved smile spread over Joanne's face. "I would like to be girlfriends too, and thank you, the food was just something I came up with last night."

"Maybe I'll teach you to hit a ball one day. Hard core wiffleball action. That'll be what I teach you next," Caroline winked at her trying not to laugh. "I will apparently be teaching you a series of things. Next after wiffleball....maybe how to hula. That's also fun."
Caroline sighed and then said quietly, "Well...yeah. You know how some girls can be. I hear them in the halls. Screeching at their boyfriends because they talked to another girl...I hoped that you wouldn't be like that...knew it in a way. But I'm good at doubting myself," She admitted with a shrug.
"You're very welcome," Caroline let out a deep breath and smiled. "So...girlfriends?"

"Sounds good, but as for Hula, hula dance, or hula hoop, cause let me tell you, there isn't anything you can teach me about the hula hoop I don't already know." Joanne teased.
"I'm sure some girls are like that, but I'd like to think not all girls are. I understand about doubting yourself." Joanne said with a gentle smile. When Caroline let out a deep breath and smiled, asking girlfriends, Joanne smiled and nodded.
"Yeah, I'd say we were. I wanted to, but I wasn't sure if you were looking for a girlfriend or not...so I just sorta backed off a little."

"Oh really?" Caroline asked crossing her arms. "Well, lucky for you I wasn't referencing the hula hoop. I'm not so good with that one. I can get a few rotations but that's about it. It amuses Jonas though...so it's a useful thing." She giggled to herself imagining the way her brother clapped his hands and laughed at her when the hoop dropped.
"You aren't...that's for sure," Caroline said with a nod. "Which supports the whole...wanting to be your girlfriend thing." She listened to Joanne and then raised her brow. "Oh...you thought that...how about we make a pact. That if we have something on our mind...we'll just say it. It seems like the thing that's...not that we've had problems...but it might be a good idea. And Joanne, I wanted to be your girlfriend from the moment that you offered me another piece of pizza."

Joanne laughed. "I can teach you to hoop if you wish." Joanne said with a grin. "It was my favorite past time as a kid." She really didn't have all that much free time even as a child, but during the summers when it calmed down some, she would often hula hoop.
"I think that's a good idea. The pact that is, if it's on your mind, you say it." When Caroline said she wanted to be her girlfriend since she offered her the second slice of pizza she grinned. "Oh well that makes two of us then."

"I would love it if you taught me," Caroline nodded with a smile. "It's only fair that we teach each other. And I think I could use a few pointers when it comes to hula hoops. Then I can show Jonas...it's all about proving to my baby brother that I'm not useless." She winked at Joanne.
"Ok good. That makes me feel better," Caroline smiled knowing that this way they would have a open relationship. "Really? I don't think I've ever made a better decision to not bring in my lunch that day." Her smile deepened. So this was it. Joanne was her first real girlfriend. That was something to write in her diary...something that she hadn't written in since her father ran off.

"You could never be useless." Joanne told her. "Besides, I'm sure to your brother your the coolest person alive." She smiled warmly. She pushed her hair out of her face slightly. When Caroline said she had never made a better decision not to bring her lunch, Joanne grinned.
"So this was all really just your brilliant plot." Joanne teased. "I see how it is." She giggled, feeling a blush creep up into her face. Caroline was her girlfriend. Joanne had never actually had a girlfriend before, and the very idea, made her giddy.
