Caroline blushed. It wasn't exactly a type of comment that would make most people blush...but any compliment worked wonders for Caroline. "I think...he might. When he's not laughing at my clownish ways." She giggled to herself knowing that she was more of a play toy to her brother at times.
Caroline laughed and shook her head. "As much as I wish it was...I don't think I'm that smart. Hopeful as I was, you being so pretty and all, I can honestly say I didn't intend for anythying but lunch. Glad I got more though."

"I'm sure he does." Joanne said with a warm smile, and an affirming nod. From what Joanne had seen from siblings, they usually just wanted the attention of the older sibling and tried to emulate what they did.
"I think your smart!" Joanne protested. When Caroline said she was pretty, she flushed darkly. "Ah, come on now, look at you, you could have anyone you wanted!" She protested.

"Hopefully," Caroline grinned but then sighed. "I know it won't last though. I bet he'll blame me for all of his misfortunes as a teenager. But that's ok. Cause when he's a teenager I'll be in my late twenties so I'll be able to beat him up if need be," She giggled at the thought.
Caroline laughed quietly and shook her head. "Well...right now...that anyone is perfect." She leaned over and kissed her cheek gently. Maybe it was too forward...but they were girlfriends afterall.

"Ah, maybe. I know my mom blames her brother for all the bad things that ever happened. It's the sibling way I guess." She shrugged. "Of course he's the first one she goes to if something isn't going to plan." She shook her head. "I wouldn't know, only child."
A deep flush crept across Joanne's face again when Caroline kissed her. "Something tells me your gonna be the girlfriend even if we have a fight, I'm never gonna stay mad at." She grumbled good naturedly with a smile to show she didn't mean anything bad by the comment.

"Of course," Caroline said with a nod. "Hopefully we're like that. I could do without the blaiming...but hopefully...the being there for each other thing." She continued to nod slowly as she thought of how her life could change when Jonas matured. He would be a little brother still, but someone to rely on. Someone who would smack Caroline over the head if she was doing something stupid. That could come in handy. "I liked being an only child when I was younger...do you like it?"
Caroline just giggled watching Joanne's reaction. "I would be okay with that," She said smiling deeply. That worked for her. Because she didn't think she could stand Joanne being upset for too long.

"Ah not so much." Joanne told her when she was asked if she liked being an only child. "I'm always the center of attention and their world when they feel like it, so it's hard to get away with anything. If I chose to stop going to one of those clubs, I guarantee they would find out and I would either be forced to go back, or be in trouble." She said rolling her eyes.
"Oh yes, I'm sure you would be ok with never being in trouble." Joanne said with a warm laugh.

"Really?" Caroline asked with a frown. "I'm sorry. That's pretty rough. You know...if you ever need a little brother. I could rent Jonas to you, She said with a wink. "Just as long as you give him back eventually. I think he needs to get out of the house some times. But I never really have the time. Cept maybe on the weekends. Maybe it could be a vacation from being yourself. You could hula hoop for him."
"I'm definietly ok with that," Caroline laughed with her. "Of course...I'm an angel in moist respects so I wouldn't even worry about that. In most...respects."

Joanne shrugged. "Ah, sometimes it's rough, but their out of town frequently, so it's just whenever their home. I think I'm sorta of their playing piece when it comes to talking to their friends. A lot of times in the grocery store, my mom will be like 'Oh, this is my daughter Joanne, she's on the honor roll, and it so many clubs, she's going to Harvard!' Which is news to me." Joanne told her. When Caroline said she could rent Jonas out she laughed.
"I'm not the best when it comes to little kids I'm afraid. I just get frazzled when I can't understand what they want." She smiled sheepishly. When Caroline said she was an angle is most respects she grinned.
"I see, well I doubt you'll be in trouble." She said with a laugh.

Caroline listened to Joanne and frowned deeply. "I'm sorry Joanne. That's really uncool. Maybe...you could...when your parents do that at the grocery store you should say something. Like...'Mom you forgot to mention that...I snort cocaine' or 'That I'm living in sin with a bongo player named Harold.' You know something to throw them."
Caroline waved her hand. "Just give me an hour with you and you'll be properly educated..." She paused and then added, "I didn't mean that to be dirty. But it kinda winded up there didn't it?"
She giggled and crossed her fingers. Hopefully she wouldn't be in trouble any time soon with Joanne.

Joanne shrugged. "The last time she did that I was like 'Mom, I gotta be home in an hour Julie is coming to take me to the movies.' I turned her the guy she was talking to and said 'we're celebrating our six month anniversary.' My mother was SO mad. She demanded I go out and wait for her in the car. It was hot outside, so I just went and talked to the ice cream lady outside." She shrugged grinning a little.
"That did end up a little dirty." Joanne agreed. "But I know what you mean. Little kids are a little daunting for me, so it would take a while I think."

Caroline clapped her hands laughing. "That's great. You should do that more often. And look now you got a real girfriend to site," She said pointing to herself. "And hey, ice cream ladies can be nice sometimes. I wouldn't think that dishing out ice cream all day is an entertaining job, so i'm sure sure she enjoyed the conversation."
Caroline wrinkled her nose. "Sorry. I usually don't have that much of a dirty mind." She nodded. "Ok...maybe a few short visits and we'll work from there."

"Yeah it was worth it at the time, but boy howdy, I heard about it forever after that! How mom can't go there anymore cause of the embarrassment I caused. I should call and apologize for making him uncomfortable. Stuff like that." Joanne shook her head, but couldn't contain the grin on her face.
"The ice cream lady was quite nice. I think she was just desperate for conversation that didn't include 'I want ice cream!' Ya know?"

"Did you really apologize?" Caroline asked with a deep frown. "I really hope not. Or that would be...yeah if so hopefully you added, psych at the end. Cause that's insane." She rolled her eyes and shook her head. "Parents can't really expect that from you...but I don't really get along with my mom so I don't know if I should talk."
"Oh really? Poor ice cream lady," Caroline frowned. "I'll make sure to talk up the ice cream people the next time I go..." She looked up at the clock. The bell was about to ring. "Well...um...now since we're girlfriends. Do you wanna go on a...you know...date?"

Joanne snorted lightly when Caroline asked if she had apologized. "Not a chance! Just because my mother wants to parade me around like a trophy to the rich snobs she knows doesn't mean I'm gonna apologize for making them feel as uncomfortable as they do me." She shrugged and reached out to touch Caroline's hand when she said she didn't get along with her mother.
"Yeah I felt a little bad for the lady too. She was very nice though. Just seemed like a genuinely nice person." she followed Caroline's eye line to the clock. Lunch had gone by so quickly! When Caroline asked about a date, Joanne couldn't keep the smile off her face.
"Of course I want to go on a date." She said happily. "Maybe we could hit the movies or something."

"Great," Caroline said with a deep smile. "I'm very proud of you." She looked down at Joanne's hand and smiled more. Negative feelings in her seemed to disappear. She slipped her fingers into Joanne's. "Thanks..." Caroline whispered.
"That's cool," Caroline replied. "I'll be on the lookout for the nice ice cream lady. I have a thing for ice cream. So I'm sure to come by her one time or another." She nodded furiously. "Yeah, a movie would be great. You have any ones in mind?" Caroline asked as she slowly stood up and gathered her bookbag.
