"See, that's the part I could never get. I think it's just a got a bit too much testosterone for my tastes," Angel shrugged. He was feeling a bit more confident with Tommy's hand on his. It was a good feeling....very good. He gently moved his hands over Tommy's, fitting his fingers between the other boy's.
"Well...I'll make sure no fish come your way, then," Angel promised with a barely concealed smile.

A shiver ran down Tommy's back when Angel slipped his fingers into his. He smiled gently and looked at them for a moment. It really did seem right. Their hands together. Tommy was pretty sure he'd never held anything that was more warm or welcome. "It's ok. Everyone has their thing. And football isn't mine anyway anymore. Now I enjoy the joys of ping pong. A much safer and less painful sport."
"Thanks or else I would hide behind you," Tommy said smiling. "I think I might become a vegitarian...not just because of the fish...but that and the whole morals thing too. It would also be easier to explain why I don't eat fish. Vegitarian...they scare me..." He stopped talking for a moment and just stared at their hands.

"Never played," he said quietly. "Looks fun, though. Looks easy," Angel laughed, tracing the other boy's hand gently. Revelling in how perfect it was; everything. Everything about Tommy, about the day was absolutely perfect. And yet, Angel still wanted more. He wanted to get closer to the senior, to know more about him...but he was terrified of rushing it. Of pushing Tommy away. He ran his thumb over Tommy's knuckle gently.
"That's a good idea," Angel agreed with a nod of his head. Something he could never do. Cows were cute and all...but they were good too. "Do you eat alot of meat?"

Tommy gulped at the feeling of Angel's thumb along his knuckles. At this rate, if they actually kissed, Tommy thought that he might have a heart attack right afterwards. His mind wandered off...wondering how it actually would be like to kiss him. Wondering what he tasted like. If they would be warm or cold. He felt a heat rise from his chest and situate itself on his face. Tommy looked up and frowned. He had just totally ignored what Angel was saying. "Um...yeah," Was his weak reply.
"No...I always feel bad," Tommy said quietly. "And I read somewhere that um...half of the rainforests are actually cut down because of meat farmers. And we're the ones who are buying...the uh...you know the...meat." His mind was on wander mode now for sure. Hopefully, Angel wouldn't notice.

"Are you okay?" Angel asked quietly. It wasn't too hard to figure out that Tommy hadn't heard a word. But it didn't really matter. It wasn't important. Why were they talking about ping pong, anyway? He didn't know much about dates, but he had a pretty good feeling that you didn't talk about things so trivial. Not really. Not on the good ones. And this was definitely a good one...this was beyond good. He gently ran his finger along one of the lines in Tommy's palm, just completely and totally...what? In love? That was a strong word...he didn't...how did you know the difference between liking someone and actually loving someone? You'd probably have to know them for a longer time...right?
"Yeah," Angel nodded absently, gently biting the center of his bottom lip. He really dodn;t have anything else to say...Tommy was obviously distracted and Angel didn't blame him. He smiled softly, not really sure where to go from there.

Tommy blew it. He looked up at Angel and nodded. "Yeah...yeah I'm fine. Sorry...my mind kinda wandered. It must be the ice cream...you know. Brain freeze kinda deal." He glanced back down at his hand and Angel's fingers. "It...just feels nice is all." Tommy was pretty sure he would die of embaressment right there. They hadn't excatly given themselves a label...even though they were going to the homecoming as each other's dates...they still didn't label. And Tommy didn't want to go there, not today at least. But he couldn't hold it back.
"I just...I've never beeen out with someone who...I've actually liked. Well, it wasn't that I didn't like them. I went out with a few girls everyonce ina while. But it was just to convince myself that I wasn't...what I thought I was. It feels really nice," Tommy explained quietly.

Angel's face darkened in colour considerably, and he had to fight to hide the smile that was washing over his face. He laced hiss hand back into Tommy's and squeezed gently. Even when Tommy wasn't listening, when he got nervous, when he stumbled over his words, it was the most endearing thing Angel'd evert seen.
"No...I can relate," Angel said quietly. He'd never been on a date before, choosing to ignore any feelings he had rather than try to 'fix' them. He'd never imagined it would be so...for lack of a better word, nice. "It is...it's nicer than I thought it would be...not that I didn't think it would be," Angel corrected himself. "It's just...I never really considered it before. You know? I never liked anyone before...and it's better than I thought it would be," Angel took a deep breath, just focusing for a moment on the feel of Tommy's hand.

"You never liked anyone?" Tommy asked. He was pretty sure that he had a crush here and there. But he was never willing to actually risk outing himself for them. Even if Tommy didn't hear that Angel was gay through the grape vine, he would have given it a try. He was worth it. "So...I guess that means that you like me?" Tommy smiled deeply and nodded. "I guess I win then."
"Do you wanna maybe...start walking...unless you're still digesting," Tommy suggested as he wanted to see if he might be able to gather the courage to kiss Angel. And this wasn't exactly the place.

"No...not really. I mean, I find guys attractive all the time...but I don't really know anybody well enough to have feelings or them. Probably because I don't really have any guy friends..." Angel shrugged. He knew it was a little strange...a boy of his age only really spending time with girls. But he also knew Tommy wouldn't judge.
"Yeah...I guess so," Angel replied with a small smile, affirming his feelings for Tommy. Like they were really any secret anymore. He was relatively certain that everyone in the whole resturaunt knew...Unlikely as that was, it was just that obvious.
"No, yeah...I'm ready to start walking. You have somewhere you have to be?" he asked, and inwartdly hoped they'd have just a little more time together. He wasn't ready for it to end yet. He didn;t really want it to ever end, but definitely not yet.

Tommy nodded trying to contain his smile. Angel had definitly turned this day around. It was amazing that the day started off so horrible, it was even running for the worst day in a lifetime award. But now, it was contending for the best day in a lifetime. "I understand. I'm just glad that we got to know each other. And I didn't have many guy friends that I was attracted to. No offense guys," He said thinking individually of Mark, Roger, and Benny.
"Oh no...I don't got anything. Just that you know we're all...done and all," Tommy said with a shrug.

"Yeah...me too," Angel agreed truthfully, unable to help the smile that came over his face. "But...I guess you like me too...huh?" he asked quietly, meeting Tommy's eyes.
"Good...me neither," he said quietly. He grabbed his cone from the holder, but kept one hand on Tommy's. He just wasn't willing to seperate from him completely. "I'm ready."

Tommy's eyes lit up at the question. "Oh believe me, Angel...I do." He picked up his cone as well determined to finish it before they reached where ever they were going. Maybe it wasn't a good idea though. Trying to kiss after ice cream. It would be too cold, maybe. But Tommy brushed off the what ifs. If it happened it would happen. And he was pretty sure that it would be amazing.
"Me too. Let's go," Tommy slid out of the booth keeping hold of Angel's hand as he did so. There was no way he was gonna let go of that.

Angel's smile deepened a bit and he looked away from Tommy. So he did. Angel'd had a feeling, but...it was very, very nice to hear. No one had ever liked him before...and the fact that someone as amazing as Tommy was interested...it was pretty much official; this was pretty much the best day he'd ever had.
"Okay," he said quietly, and smiled as Tommy kept his hand in his. Angel squeezed his hand gently, sliding out of the booth with him.

"Should I walk you home?" Tommy asked as he used his shoulder to open the door. "Or do you wanna just...walk for a bit?" The just walking seemed like a good option, but he didn't want to overwarm his welcome. Even if Angel liked him, that didn't mean that he wanted to spend 24 hours with him. Maybe he had homework. Tommy knew that he did. But then again, he cut two out of the four classes he was in today.
Tommy looked down at their hands for a moment and smiled.

"Let's take a walk," Angel said quickly. The choice between staying out with Tommy or going home wasn't exactly rocket science. It was probably getting on...but all he had to say was he was studying with Mimi and he'd have his father off his back.
