"You're kidding me? A lawyer?" Caroline rolled her eyes. "That's like every parents dream job for their kids." She shook her head and then drank some of her soda. "If you want me to...point him out to me and I could randomly kick him and run away." Maturity wasn't exactly Caroline's strong point, and she knew it.
Caroline laughed. "That would be great. I'd love to get him out of the house. He's always cooped up. I never have the time to take him out." She smiled at the thought and shrugged. Even though Joanne suggested it, she didn't expect it to actually happen. Though it would be nice...she stopped herself. Just because she found another lesbian didn't mean that she had to go for her. That was the wrong way of going about it. But she was awful pretty...

Joanne smiled warmly. "Your brother is lucky to have someone liek you in his life." She told Caroline honestly. She scolded herself silently. Just cause she came over, and your talking doesn't mean she likes you. Her internal voice muttered. She sucked in a deep breath.
She looked over her shoulder and noticed a table of girls were starring at them. "We have an audience."

Caroline blushed slightly and shook her head. "He can't say my name yet," She said trying to change the subject away from her, "He calls me Ca Ca. It's sweet...something to tease him about when he's a teenager. I'm gonna love that."
Caroline raised her brows and followed Joanne's eyeline. Ah the group of girls who looked more like hens then girls, rumoring and balking. Caroline plastered the biggest smile that she could manage on her face and queen waved at them. "I know we're just that beautiful aren't we? Feel free to stare," She said smirking.

Joanne rolled her eyes at the group of girls. "Eat your lunch." She snapped to the table, twisting around to face Caroline again. "I swear some people are do ridiculous." She looked over and Caroline. "And I must be vindictive, cause I love it when someone gets what's comming to them." She laughed. "How sad am I?" She sighed before shaking her head in vague amusement. "I'm sure the homecomming dance will be hell." She muttered.

Caroline shrugged and plopped her empty can down on the table. "I wouldn't worry about it. The worse they do. Talk. And pssah to that. I like the rumors they made me giggle. No one needs to know what's really going on in my life other than me and the ones I'm close to. So if they wanna speculate...let them." She pulled a chair next to her over and put her feet on top of it.
Caroline giggled and shook her head. "No, I love that too. And if that is being vindictive...then I am too." She paused for a moment and shrugged. "It can't be that bad. The dance I mean. Mr. Newly is chaperoning so he'll keep an eye out for us. And we can stick together." She blushed a little wondering if Joanne would take that a step further.

"Yeah there's always some kind of rumor going around. Some of them are funny, and some of them are just so sad." She laughed. When Caroline told her Mr. Newly would be chaperoning, she perked some.
"Oh Mr. Newly is good." When Caroline said they could stick together, she paused. Internal war raged for a moment. Maybe Caroline just wanted to stick together for safety, maybe she wanted to go with her, maybe she just wanted a friend.
"Yeah," She said quietly. "Or..." She cleared her throat, before smiling, making a decision. "Or we could really turn some heads. Caroline, I hope you don't think me forward, but would you like to be my date for the homecomming dance?"

"Yeah. I like the funny ones. There was one about me in middle school where I was apparntly dating that girl in the commerical. You know the teenager girl in that Burger King commercial. With the twins. I was dating the one, but I broke up with the other one." Caroline giggled and shrugged. "I don't know why they didn't just go for it and say I was dating both of them. That would have been a fun rumor."
"Yeah he's great," Caroline said with a smile and a nod.
Caroline was hit with about 50 emotions at once. Yay! I'm gonna have a date. I'm gonna have Joanne as a date! What the hell am I gonna wear? It's gonna have to be...a little you know... Dwayne doesn't have to look for someone for me anymore. He'll be happy about that. Wow...this girl... "I would...I would love to. Turn some heads...and go with you."

Joanne grinned. "I'm glad." She told her honestly. She smiled warmly. "And I was just kidding about the turning heads thing." she said with a laugh. "Though we will, cause you know," She dropped her voice to a conspiraction whisper "Not only are we going together as a date, we're, dare I say it, interacial as well..dun dun dun...." She pulled back with a laugh.

Caroline let her feet fall and scooted over leaning in so she could hear Joanne better. It also gave her a good excuse to get close to her. At the mention of the word 'date,' Caroline smiled deeply. This was really all happening. "Dun dun dun indeed." Caroline said with a long laugh.
"Well, I don't mind. How could I?" Caroline asked shaking her head. She thought that Joanne's skin tone was beautiful. "But I'm looking forward to it...a lot. I've had my eye on a dress...now I have an excuse. I didn't even know if I was going until you asked me actually."

"I wasn't going to unless you said yes." Joanne said wit a laugh. "Oh we're suppose to wear dresses aren't we...." Joanne said after a moments though. "I usally wear slacks...I don't know if I actually own any dresses...could be a good excuse to go max out a credit card." She said with a grin.

"Yeah dresses are kinda needed at school dances," Caroline said with a slow nod. "I wouldn't worry about it though. They have those like...dress pant outfit things. I'm sure you could go for those. I love dresses...any time I have an excuse I'm all for them."
"Maxing out a..." Caroline started to ask. Well one thing was for sure, they were from different economic backgrounds. "Yeah...then I say go find a dress or pant like thing for sure. If you got options than you should try."

"I've never liked clothes." Joanne grumbled. "I'd only max out a card to get back at my parents. They always leave me a card for food and what I might need. I never use it, but it could be fun." She said with a grin. "I just never know what looks right, and what looks weird." She told her. "I went to a wedding and wore a brown dress and apparently, it was bad."

"Why was it bad? Did people actually tell you looked bad in it?" Caroline asked with her brows raised. "Cause if they did give me their names and I'll go find them and kick them too. After your dad. I'll just make them get in line." She smiled softly and said, "I don't really think you could look bad in anything. So I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just find something that's you. And well that fits. That always helps."

Joanne frowned. "Yeah a few people did." She admitted. "And my mom kept saying what an embarament it was, and it was just bad." She shook her head. "I'm sure I can find something." She said with a brave smile. She felt she probably looked like the brave five year old at the doctors office.
"Want another piece?" She asked, offering the box to Caroline.

"Ok that's it," Caroline said throwing her hands in the air, "Your mom gets kicked too. I thoughth she might be spared, but no. An embarressment? I'll show her an embarresstment!" She replied her face getting red with anger. No girl needed to hear things like that. As if society throwing out a specifc body image wasn't enough.
"And yes! I would like another piece," Caroline took a pizza slice and ate it as if she had to kill it with her teeth first.
