"Whoa!" Joanne was startled by the abrupt anger. "Hey, it's ok. Well it's not ok, but you know, I lived. I'm not exactly the fashion queen as it is. Although.." She looked away slightly embrassed. "My dad lost a business partner cause of me." She shook her head. "He called me chunky! I was only twelve I had to do something."

Caroline tried to calm herself down and ignore Dwayne dancing around in her head calling her a drama queen. He was so helpful sometimes. Even when he wasn't in the room. "I'm sorry...just a little..." She ripped off another piece of pizza with her teeth. "Wait...what did you do? And I think whatever you did I would support you..."

"Uh.." Joanne cleared her throat, finding the table suddenly very intresting. "I uh, decked him in the mouth. Bad, I know, but he had it comming." She took another silce of pizza, and savored the pepperoni goodness of it.
"Did you want to have dinner before we go to the dance?" Joanne asked, in an attempt to steer the topic off her and onto a stable ground.

Caroline laughed her anger slipping away very quickly. She was also considered bi-polar by a few close friends. "Oh that's great. And as a twelve year old. You're pretty rockin, yourself, I must say. I'm impressed." She nibbled on the end of her crust.
"Um...well sure that's fine. It just..." Caroline frowned for a moment and then shrugged. "I don't know what you have in mind or anything, I just don't have too much...you know, money. So could it be like one of the rinky dink joints around here? I could probably do it if I didn't have the dress to pay for too." Caroline wasn't really ashamed by the lack of money she had, but it bothered her that she couldn't really enjoy things like other kids could.

"Well thank you." She said with a half bow. She laughed. "My mother was fairly mortified though. How unseemly of me!" she mocked.
"I never said anything about going out. Belive it or not, I can cook." Joanne said with a grin. "I'll just hit the grocery store." She laughed. "What do you like? Is there anyting your allergic too?" She laughed. "Most people go, 'really you cook?' Like I'm gonna say no, just seeing how long I can get ya going." She laughed.

"Unseemly sounds like a good lady to me," Caroline smirked. "Being proper is overrated sometimes. Most of the time. Just do what your thinking. And I'm glad you did. I bet her learned his lesson."
Caroline laughed quietly and shook her head. "Oh no, I can see you cooking. That's great...I would love to do that. I could help too. I'm not an amazing cook but if you need some help I could lend a hand." In fact, Caroline was an awful good cook. She hadn't been making dinner for her family for the past three years for nothing.

"I imagine your much better than you give yourself credit for." She commented. She finished off her silce of pizza before taking another sip of soda. Joanne was pretty good at making a drink last. She smiled warmly at the girl.
"You never answered my question." She said sweetly. "I wanted to know what kind of food you liked." She grinned.

Caroline shrugged. "It's not what I do best. Though I really haven't quite figured out what it is that I do best. I'm working on it though," She said with a sigh. Sometimes, she just wished that she could get a print out somewhere that would list her name, perfect profession, soul mate, abilities, and number of children. It would make life so much easier. A real MASH game so to speak.
"Oh...oh I'm sorry," Caroline shrugged. "I'm good with anything really. Cept too many veggies. I like peas, but that it's really."

"I don't think anyone really can do one thing best. People are made of up lots of things they do well, and just as many they don't. I can cook, but I can't bake to save my life." She told her. "I tried to make a cake for my dad's birthday, and the entire middle collapsed."
"Really?" Joanne asked in suprise. "I love veggies, but dont really like peas." She said with a laugh. "Don't worry, I'm sure I can come up with a veggie free, totally bad for you kind of meal." She said with a grin.

"That's true..." Caroline said with a short nod. "Did you? That's when you go to plan B. You run out to the grocery store and claim that the cake you bought from the bakery was the one you made. And get rid of the evidence," She said with a wink. "It always works with Jonas...but then again he spends more time physically playing with the cake than eating it."
"Aw you don't like peas?" Caroline asked with a slight pout. "Well...together we make up a veggie lover. Totally bad for you type meals. I love those type of meals. My favorite actually. I'm looking forward to it already."

She laughed when Caroline said to buy one from the store. "Eh, he ate it anyway." She said with a shrug. She grinned. "Your little brother's name is Jonas? That's a good name." She commented.
"I think I know what I'll make then." She said with a laugh when Caroline said her favorite meals were the bad for you kind. "How does chicken parmesan with lemon butter pasta and a side salad, sound?" She asked, quirking an eyebrow at the other girl.

Caroline's eyes went wide, "Did he? Oh well...that's good. Showing support huh?" Then she nodded putting her feet back up on the chair next to her. "Yep that's his name. Jonas Zach Sweet. I love him to pieces. Hey...Jonas. Joanne. Two Jo's." She grinned at the notion. That had to be a good sign right? Not that Caroline was looking for a life partner at the moment, but hey, it wasn't a crime to think about it just a little bit.
"That sounds great," Caroline said enthusastically. "I've tried chicken parmesan but the cheese I put on it always burns or something. Then I end up scraping it off. But I bet you make it great. Without the charcol cheese."

"Eh, more like he thought it was a bun cake." She shrugged. "He didn't complain or anything." She laughed when she said two Jo's. "I've never really been called Jo. Once in a while people call me Jo, but I think other than Maureen, you might be the only one." She said with a laugh.
Joanne couldn't help but smiled when Caroline said she always burned the cheese. "My gram taught me a special trick to make it so the cheese doesn't burn." She shrugged.

Caroline giggled and shrugged. "Well I guess it's better that he didn't exactly know then. Let him live in ignorance. Sometimes it's better that way." She grinned deeply and pointed Joanne. "I think I'll call you JoJo than. I wouldn't wanna call you Jo if someone else has." Caroline tilted her head and nodded. "You're a JoJo...is that ok?"
"Really? Nice. You'll have to share...or taunt me. I'm fine either way," Caroline explained picking at the left over crust on the table. "Are...were you close with your grandmother?"

"Please don't call me Jojo." Joanne pleaded. She had every reason in the world to hate that name. And she was hoping she wasnt going to have to devludge a single one of them. When she asked if she had been close with her grandmother she shook her head.
"Not really. I only saw her once every couple years. She was wonderful lady, but I wouldn't say we were close. She was sweet and loving though."
