Adjusting his glasses that were beginning to slip a bit too low, Dwayne waited for Lilly. It was hard to believe that it had been over a month since they started dating. Actually, nearly two months; even more shocking. A smile played on his lips. He was certain that they were the best two months during the school year he had ever had, if not in his entire life.
Needless to say, he was looking forward to spending Halloween with her. Yes, it wasn't the most romantic holiday, but it'd be fun; that was a guarantee. Now he just needed his amazing date to arrive.

Lilly jumped on one foot over to where Dwayne stood, adjusting the pink ballet flat on her right foot. "I'm going to get the worst blisters ever, I'm telling you. These are ridiculous. Why I had to borrow my sister's old ones that don't even fit I have absolutely no idea. But I'm wearing them, which means I'm a dumbass. Mind if I join you?" she added, grinning and sliding the glasses off his nose and resting them on the top of her head.

Dwayne smiled at the sight of Lilly, although that was shortlived as she began complaining about her shoes. "You're not a dumbass, relax. For centuries women have made poor choices in shoes when it comes to comfort, so you're definitely not a dumbass for it," he assured her with a light smirk. He chuckled as she pulled off his glasses. "Of course I don't. I've been waiting for you for all this time after all," he responded with a wink.

"Who else would you be waiting for?" Lilly teased, fixing his tie. "You look...really good today. Although I don't understand the glasses. Here, you can have them back. They don't go with my outfit." She leaned forward and slid them back onto his face, pecking his nose as she did so.
Looking around to make sure nobody was watching, Lilly slid off her shoes to squeeze her feet back into a somewhat normal shape. "Doesn't look like anybody's up for a late-night hayride except us. I wasn't too keen on bobbing for apples with this hairdo. I officially hate curlers."

Dwayne chuckled. "Thanks...although I don't see how you wouldn't get the glasses. You look great too," he responded as he gladly took the glasses back. Whether or not they had a tendency to slide down his nose, the costume just wasn't the same without them. His smile broadened when she kissed him on the nose. Then again, he never failed to smile around Lilly.
He smiled sympathetically as she pulled off her shoes. He glanced around to see that Lilly was right as usual. "Hmm, looks like it. And I'll keep that lovely tidbit in mind. I'll keep you away from curlers," he responded jokingly.

Lilly took a moment to give him a quick grin and a curtsy. "So...costume...man, it's taking me a while, I can't figure what it is! Unless it's just 'American Businessman/Male Model.' I can't think of what else it could be!" She looped her arms around his neck and stood there for a moment as they waited for the hayride cart to come back. "Oh, please do. They really wreak havoc on my hands." Sliding her left arm out from around his neck, she extended her pointer finger to show him a small burn she'd received from her curling iron. "I need some of those twisty ones."

Dwayne chuckled at Lilly's gesture. She was beyond entertaining when she set her mind to it, honestly. He smirked lightly as she tried to guess what his costume was. "As flattering as that guess was, that's not it." Fingering the chain around his neck, he showed the silver symbol. He refused to wear Superman's actual costume underneath the suit, but he figured that he'd give some sort of clue and what better than the famous "s"?
He glanced down at the burn on her finger and winced slightly. "Okay, I was sort of joking before, but now I'm definitely keeping you away from those things. The twisting ones sound a lot safer." Smiling weakly, he kissed her on the forehead.

"Oh! You're Superman!" Lilly giggled and clasped her fingers around the symbol on the chain. "Or the secret identity, anyway. Forgot what his name was...Bruce Wayne? No, that was Batman. Ah, I'm no good at comic book heroes. But that's cute. You're cute."
Slowly, she moved her arms back around his neck. "It's fine. I shouldn't touch irons in the first place. Let my mom iron the dress."

"Neither am I usually. Actually, I didn't even remember that one until you mentioned it. Anyway, it's Clark Kent," he responded, smiling widely toward his girlfriend. "Thanks. You look quite nice yourself, although I'm sure I've said it already. Well, it's worth repeating." He nodded at her comment on irons. "Just don't burn yourself anymore and I think we'll both be very happy." Stroking her cheek with his thumb, he kissed her lightly.

"Clark Kent...ah, I get it." Lilly couldn't help but grin as well. "I know I tell you this all the time, but I love your smile." She moved her hand to run her index finger across his bottom lip. "Yeah, thanks," she added. "I usually don't like dresses, but...this one's kind of fun. Costumes are fun, usually. Your costume is very fun, Superman. Although I don't really look like Lois Lane. We should've coordinated." She laughed a little before kissing him back.

Dwayne's smile broadened slightly at her comment. "I never get tired of hearing it, so you can say it all you want," he told her, getting a good look at her. As he expected, she was beautiful as usual. Then again, he doubted there would be a time he didn't think that.
"I'm glad you like this one. Wouldn't be good if you didn't like your costume. It's bad enough you didn't like your shoes." He chuckled lightly at her comment. After pulling away from the kiss, he responded, "Nah, I don't think we really needed to. This works. Besides, I surprised you, which I think is a good thing."

"Oh, you," Lilly managed, laughing and leaning on him. Flattery was his kryptonite, really. "That's gonna get you one day. Your head will be so huge you won't be able to lift it off your pillow."
"I do like the costume. Picked it myself. And I didn't get to choose the shoes, Mom wasn't in a mood for giving me cash and I had to wear my sister's old ones." Lilly considered his view. "Yeah, I guess that's better. I like a good surprise, really."

Dwayne rolled his eyes good naturedly. She just loved to tease just about everyone, but at least it was in a loving way. "Well, if that does happen, it's going to be your fault. As it is, I'll try to keep my head from inflating too much, deal?" The last thing he wanted was to get so much confidence that he became unbearable.
"As you should; it looks so good on you," Dwayne responded, getting a good look at her costume. He never really thought of how she'd look in a dress and this was definitely a good first example. "Well, that sucks, being forced to wear those." He smiled when she agreed with his view of their not exactly matching costumes. "Good, I was hoping you'd think so."

Lilly lifted her head and stood on her tiptoes to kiss his forehead. "Oh, yeah, that's right. Entirely my fault. But sure, deal," she agreed, falling back onto her heels. At least he'd agreed to work on it.
"Oh, stop," she said, rolling her eyes as he looked her up and down. "It's not like you haven't seen me in a dress before. Or any girl, for that matter." She wiggled her toes slightly and watched them press against the top of the shoes. "Why is it that no dress shoes fit my feet? I'm going to need to go shoe shopping soon. Don't worry, you don't have to come. Men hate shoes."

Dwayne nodded in agreement, a sarcastic smile on his face. "Well, at least you admit it," he teased, although he kept his mouth shut when she kissed him on the forehead. "But again, I won't let myself get too self confident, since I'm pretty sure you wouldn't like that." His smile became a bit more genuine at his words. Might as well let her know he wasn't kidding about that.
Dwayne raised an eyebrow at her statement. Now that he hadn't expected to hear. He was beginning to think that they were enjoying this mini banter session a little too much. "Are you trying to say I have seen you in a dress? If so, then please enlighten me. And if you mean your costume during Fiddler, that doesn't count in my book."
He smiled weakly when she brought up the shoes again. It was times like that he was very glad he was born a guy. "I appreciate that, thank you," he remarked, although he wouldn't say he hated shoes. He just wasn't as obsessive as some girls he'd seen. He never quite understood it, but he had some average guy traits deep down, so that was to be expected.
