The truck pulling the cart passed over a significant bump in the yard, and the cart bounced. Lilly, who had completely forgotten they were on a moving vehicle of any kind, gasped audibly before grabbing Dwayne's shoulders. "Oh my God. What the hell was that?" Pushing his shoulders slightly so she could sit back up, she looked around and remembered where she was. "Oh," she mumbled, feeling a bit stupid. Their little kissing session had totally wiped her brain, and now she was slowly coming back to reality.

When the cart reached a bump on the road, Dwayne's eyes widened and he nearly shouted. He was slightly more aware of the surroundings than Lilly, but that didn't mean that he was any less surprised. He was slightly calmed when Lilly seemed to hold onto him for dear life. "You okay? I know I was shocked," he asked, getting a good look at her expression. She seemed all right, aside from seeming a bit embarrassed.

Lilly, who was smoothing down her dress (the hem had gotten much higher than where it should have been), glanced back towards him. "Yeah, I'm okay now...I bet they were sort of expecting us to be paying attention. But we...well, you know, we...weren't quite exactly...anyways..." Her cheeks had turned an obvious sort of embarrassed pink, although the darkness helped to mask it. It wasn't her fault he was so damn attractive...and sweet, now was it?

Dwayne couldn't help but laugh, realizing that Lilly was probably right. "Yeah, I guess they were. They didn't expect anyone to act that way. Apparently, they forgot an important detail, the detail being that we are teenagers." He winked toward Lilly, hoping that she wouldn't be too embarrassed anymore. After all, there really wasn't any need to be, not around him. Or at least he hoped not.

Lilly laughed as well, seeing that now her dress was back where it was supposed to be and she was in the mood to laugh at something. "That's true. I bet we're not the only ones..." She leaned forward so she was kneeling beside him and pulled some straw out of his hair. "Gotta get all of these out of here before we get off..."

Dwayne grinned. This was much better than her blushing, no matter how cute it was when she did it. He'd much rather see her smile. If there was a heaven, chances were her smile came from it. "No, I highly doubt we were." Noticing she was pulling some straw out of her hair, he made a quick decision. "Here, let me help you with that." He pulled a few of the smaller straws caught in her curls. Just because he felt like it, he kissed her on the cheek afterwards.

Lilly giggled as he pulled straw out of her hair. "I bet I've got quite a bit more straw than you did, considering..." She held his face in her hands and kissed his nose quickly before shifting around. "So....what now? This ride is long," she added, as sort of an afterthought. They had been going for a while...

"True, true," he murmured. After all, he wasn't the one who leaned against the hay bales. Not that he minded that in the slightest. He was a bit too busy kissing her to really mind anything. Once she shifted around, he slowly wrapped his arm around her again. "I guess we'll enjoy the rest of the ride." Glancing around, he was almost certain that the cart had almost come full circle. "We should be back soon. I can see the roller coaster again, at least..." He was pretty sure he couldn't in the last seconds of him actually paying attention to his surroundings.

"Oh, okay." Lilly shifted herself up and was also able to see it. "We must be getting back," she agreed. She felt an immense comfort in his arm being there (even if it was just his arm) and smiled a little. Just wait until she told her friends. This would be a good story to tell, too. "I'm glad Halloween fell on a Friday this year. This would have been hell in the middle of the week."

Dwayne glanced down at Lilly and kissed her on the forehead. She beat looking at the view from the hayride anyday. There wasn't even that much of it anyway. Just the rest of the carnival on one side, although lights were beginning to come up. At least that looked nice. Still, Lilly was much more eye catching, at least he thought so. Bias was something that was understandable in this situation.
At her statement, he nodded. He couldn't have agreed more. While this would have been perfect no matter what day it was, there was no way he'd be able to concentrate on school the next day. Bad enough that he didn't know if he would ever be able to fully concentrate on something again. "I know..." With the hand on his free arm, he laced their fingers, loving how the connection between them seemed to get stronger by the second.

Lilly tugged her knees into her chest. She thought it was a little odd that neither one of them really had anything to say, given that they were usually some of the most talkative people she knew. Sighing, she leaned her head against his shoulder and rested her hand on his knee.
In almost a crushing realization, she realized she'd never be able to pay attention in school again. Ever. Ever ever ever. Her grades would fail like nothing else. Lilly tensed for a moment before relaxing- this was too nice. Deciding she'd just roll with the punches, she squeezed his hand and grinned. It was all gonna be okay.

It wasn't often that the both of them were so quiet, but somehow it felt great. Opening up seemed to mean that nothing else needed to be said for the night. They both knew how they felt about each other, which was really the best thing in the world. Still as she rested against him, he had to whisper it again. "I love you." He couldn't say it enough and something told him that she couldn't either.
Dwayne raised an eyebrow when she seemed to tense up, as if something was scaring her. "You all right baby?" he whispered, squeezing her hand as well. From the grin on her face, whatever was bothering her for that moment was out of her mind. Still, he wanted to be sure.

"I've really wanted you to say that for a while," Lilly admitted, breaking the seemingly everlasting silence. "I don't even know what it means, to be honest." She gave him a small, almost embarrassed smile (in any other position, it would have been accompanied by a shrug) and brushed his cheek with her fingers.
"Yeah- yeah, I'm fine," Lilly lied, pulling her practically convincing fib off with a happily surprised look. "Seriously." He always knew...which, for her, could be a blessing or a curse. Unfortunately, she wasn't sure which of the two it was quite yet.

A fleeting half smile crossed Dwayne's face when she said she wanted him to say that for a long time. "And I've wanted to say it for a long time..." He raised an eyebrow when she explained that she wasn't even sure what it meant, almost chuckling at her sheepish smile. Narrowing his eyes before bending down to be level with her. "Well, what do you think it means? For you, I mean. I know what it means for me."
Dwayne examined her expression for a minute. He had a feeling she wasn't telling the truth. "Seriously Lilly..." he began, repeating what she had said. "What's up?" He brushed some hair out of her face, still seeming to be analysing her face.

"Then why didn't you?" Lilly asked, a little confused. He'd usually been pretty forward with her. Why the hell did he make her wait two months? All confusion was lost when he brought himself down to her level and soon she wasn't able to think of anything at all. She drew an unexplainable blank. "Uh- I, um...I really...don't know?"
Lilly was still not able to answer. "I- I forgot," she answered, now truthfully. It wasn't fair that he could still make her lose her train of thought, especially when she had a reason to lie to him in the first place.
